SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League announced today that Jason LaBarbera of the Manchester Monarchs has been named the winner of the Aldege “Baz” Bastien Memorial Award as the AHL’s outstanding goaltender for the 2006-07 season, as voted by players and members of the media in each of the league’s 27 cities.

So he got the Jr. Vezina, he should be in a rotation with clouts this upcoming season.

So, we have arguably the best netminder in the AHL and the worst in the NHL. Fun.

...and LaBarbera was one of the best in the NHL before he had to leave the team for personal reasons last season.

Cloutier, unless he somehow finds a way to channel the living spirit of Tretiak, should have fun in the AHL next season.

Consistency is more than 10 good games though, don't you think? Martin is who he is because the s.o.b. is so ****ing consistent year in and year out and throughout the whole season...he then steps it up with into 8th gear in the playoffs.
