Official "Apologies to Malik" Thread

I've got to give the big guy credit. He and Rosie have been stellar so far against the top unit of the Thrashers.

Guy gets ripped for every mistake, he desrves some props.

Malik is a brilliant man, he calculated that if he scored 5 or 6 goals against his own team during reg season he pretty much has the odds locked up that he cannot get a bad bounce against himself in the playoffs.

Yeah, when that puck him in the skate and went wide during an Atlanta chance, I said to my dad a couple weeks ago that would have bounced in.

I've found no introduce yourself thread, so I think based on recent events, and my conduct at home games this season, this is the perfect forum for my first post.

I've lurked here for almost nine months without registering. I had a 15 game plan for the last four years, which was upgraded to a full season this year. Most of the posters here seem to pretty perceptive, you can probably figure out where I sit.

That being said.

I have been *very* critical of Malik this year, at times unmerciful. At the same time though, I have tried to notice when he has played well. I was not one to boo him when he has played well.

His play of late has not gone unnoticed (and to be honest he has played well now for a while).

Keep it up Malik!

Two games and you want us to apologize for a whole season of crap? Lets see how he does for the rest of the playoffs before we say anything.

I'm not apologizing. He still gets burned and loses his man. He is playing better, but nothing to go crazy for.

You obviously just hate because you can.

I have seen the bad plays Malik has played, but there is no way he deserves the boo's and hatred he gets. I shook his hand and told him I don't boo him, and he laughed. The "zomg malik suxxxxxxxxx" is really REALLY overplayed.

Malik has been clearly among the Rangers best defensemen... Absolutely cannot be debated that he's among the Rangers best 3 for this series. Girardi was excellent today but the first game holds him back a bit.

Malik
Rozy
Tyutin all can be debated as the best

And then it probably goes
Girardi
Mara

And Pock as the last.

Malik has been good all year though... The frustrating plays were clearly obvious, but with everything considered, he helps this team. The puck moving is especially his best asset.

It is obvious that Malik wants to lure Lundqvist into a false sense of security. Then when the guard is down he will strike like (a tall, very slow) cobra.

People finnaly come to their senses. I have been trying to tell everyone how much he actually brings to this team that goes unoticed for his mistakes. At Ranger games I just wanted to tell everyone to shut the hell up. But that couldn't happen.

I mean I have been a Malik fan for quite some time. Somewhere into last season. I have a Malik jersey, Malik avatar and Malik pajama's (alright maybe not that far).

He is very calm when it comes to having the puck. He can block some shots too. He is a key defender. Just check the Rangers record this season without him. He can make some stupid plays sometimes but everyone does. Now for the occasional own goal scoring. He can't do nothing about it. With his size he is going by our net and stopping others from putting it in. He actually seemed to be getting more physical today. Now I know none care for +/- But it is still a stat to look into. He is also a good passer.

But that's the Rangers crowd for you. Always looking to boo someone on the team for their bad mistakes and awful play. The booing doesn't seem to take him off his game though.

Ah, Purinton, now there's a name I'm just ecstatic not to find in the Rangers lineup anymore.

I am not ready to apologize yet, but I never really gave him hell in the first place...

I dont boo players, especialy your own when they have been playing well or at least decently... He really became the lightning rod this year for alot of frustration and anger... No more Poti to blame so everyone blamed him...

I just hope that the Garden is rocking on tuesday and doesnt start booing if Malik has a puck hop over his stick or falls down and looses a man.... THE TEAM NEEDS OUR SUPPORT!!!
