The kid...

earned his right to play his first go-around in the NHL, combined with his play in the AHL...glad to see he took advantage of being given real ice time and responsibility.

Once we get Shanny and Hossa back we can have a pretty solid top three lines.

Hossa-Nylander-Jagr
Shanny-Straka-Prucha
Avery-Cullen-Callahan
Ortmeyer-Betts-Hollweg

In the mean time, once Shanny comes back it should be:

Straka-Nylander-Jagr
Shanny-Dubinsky-Prucha
Avery-Cullen-Callahan
Ortmeyer-Betts-Hollweg

The best thing I saw was he scored hard working goals.

Who wouldn't love to go into the next season with Avery-Cullen-Callahan as our third line.

On a side note, how good has Cullen been?

I've got dibs on the Dubinsky jersey so you should get the Callahan

Holding out on Dubis jersey though because I don't think he'll be #54 when he makes it permanently.

I don't know Fly, he apparently has worn 54 because Graves wore 9, and 5+4=9

What number did Callahan wear tonight? I'm in Hawai'i so I haven't been able to watch the games.

I was afraid of this thread...I'm happy for the guy, but he has played four NHL games, scored a garbage goal, and was gifted a breakaway. Very happy for him, great game, but come on. Now if he had gotten an assist it would have been a nice special hatty, then we would have something to talk about haha

The key is he actually scored on the breakaway...unlike many other guys on this team. He has hands, and a great backhand...you can't teach that. I'm not hanging his numbers in the rafters just yet, but he looks like a keeper.

I agree...it was great to see him play well but we see too many "emotional" threads based on game day play ....

As Bill Parcells would say ..."lets not get out the anointing oil" ...

Average players know what do with with opportunities, star players finish those opportunities....Cally is the guy who finishes those.

I think the couple Avery comps I've seen for Cally seem pretty accurate. Cally should have a little more offensive upside and hopefully isn't as uncontrollable as Avery has been through his career, but the agitating, balls-to-the-wall approach they take is similar.

Was Cally brought up as an Injury replacement? If so, does he have a time limit on how long he can play w/ the big boys?
