Oliver Setzinger (F) from Vienna Capitals (Austria) -> Nashville Predators (NHL) / Milwaukee Admirals (AHL)
He is rumoured to be using the escapeclause in his contract with Hannover Scorpions (DEL) to sign with Nashville. He would be joining DEG's Alexander Sulzer there.

Philip Gogulla from Cologne Sharks (DEL) -> Buffalo Sabres (NHL)

Gogulla has signed a three year deal, but will be allowed to continue to play for the Sharks until at least 2009.

I doubt that Gogulla will stay till 2009. Buffalo might allow him to stay for one year, but two is pushing it. There is no reason to leave him in Europe that long.

And he definately won't stay in Germany after 2009, because his current contract runs out that year.

That is what I understand from the reports around the internet. Cologne's website reports that part of the reason why Buffalo can't take Gogulla now is that a new IIHF - NHL agreement on the transfer of players is not (yet) in place. Of course the other part would be that there are a number of other players in line before him in Buffalo. But the Sharks definitely do not seem to be expecting him to be called to the US in the middle of a season.

What will happen after Gogulla's contract expires in 2009 remains to be seen, but I agree that it is likely that he will then move to North America.

I had read about it on Hockeyweb.de and had a hard time believing it too I did decide to write about it on germanhockey.net this morning, but having now read this on eishockeynews.de it just looks like a bad cliffhanger for their upcoming issue.

Yashin will get enough offers from NHL-teams, and even if he wouldn't, I can't find a single reason why he would play in Germany, especially for a team that has no Russians.

Isn't it obvious? His girlfriend wants to study in Hamburg

The funny thing about that is that he is married and his wife is a bit old to study

Really, I don't know how any press-member could miss something like that.

It was a joke started on a Freezers-message-board, I have no idea how it got past that point.

Now, here is someone who will actually play for Hamburg:
Andy Delmore signed a two-year contract.

Not what I wanted. Hamburg needed two complete defensemen, not someone who is bad defensively and is a pure shooter. He should be better than Boileau, but he's not someone who will get Hamburg into the top 4. Especially since he is rather ineffective unless someone sets him up properly, and Hamburg has no defenseman capable of that. The only one who comes close (Letang) will miss the start of the season.

The one new defenseman they need to sign better be one heck of a player, because right now the defense looks just as offensively challenged as the one from last season.
