2nd round matchups

Assuming Buffalo and Ottawa don't blow their 3-1 lead, here's the scenarios:

If New Jersey wins series:
Rangers play Buffalo, Ottawa plays New Jersey

If Tampa Bay wins series:
Rangers play Ottawa, Tampa Bay plays Buffalo

Not im really sure which team I would rather play in the next round. Pitt is basically out of it, maybe the Islanders can put together something and beat Buffalo even tho its highly unlikely.

I do not want to play Ottawa. I'll take my chances with any other team though.

There is no easy road to The Cup. Matchups do not matter after the first round. Everyone is beatable. We just have to keep bringing the determination and drive we saw tonight.

If the D and Lundy keep playing solid, I think Rangers-Sabres would be a real exciting matchup.

Any way you look at it, the 'Sens or Sabres will be a very though match up.

I dont know, both of these teams are offensive juggernauts. Either way, Lundqvist and the defense are going to have to be huge and our offense is going to have to score like they did in this series. That said, I'd rather face Buffalo, I just think their defense is a little more vulnerable than Ottawa's.

Buffalo or Ottawa will not be Atlanta

Both teams have far superior defense corps than Atlanta and both teams have more depth up front than Atlanta which is top heavy

Gaustad, could possibly be back for Buffalo. He could counter Avery. But, I highly doubt he returns.

We were spoiled in our 1994 and 1997 1st and 2nd round playoffs results, with none of those four series going more than 5 games (although a couple of the Florida games in '97 were very close)...

No matter who we play, one thing's for sure - we'll be well-rested!

I think I'm rooting for New Jersey, because if they win and the Rangers and Devils advance in the semis (not getting ahead of myself here...ok, who am I sh!ttin, it's evident I am), then we meet the Devils in the Eastern Conference Finals...

WHAT A WAR THAT WOULD BE, HUH?

It's Ok to get ahead of yourself, it's the player's job not to. Anyway, if this were to happen, that would be an absolute war. It would be really fun to watch. The Garden would be unbelievably crazy during that series.

sens and sabres are both extremely tough teams....if i HAD to pick...i think id go with buffalo, just because we ve shown we can play with them (3 OT loses), plus when we played them in early in the season they were playing unreal hockey...they have cooled down since then...and were a much better team since then....anyway both teams are crazy tough...we just gotta bring 110% eveynight...Go Blue!

lets see the isles and pens with some games...hopefully it can be emotionally and physically driaing for the winner...some nice hits and dirty play to wear them down would be nice.....and i dont think you have to worrt about a let down from us with all the rest...we got vets/injuries that can really use this time...and it should work in our favor

Buffalo has looked pretty vulnerable against the Isles, and I don't think that defense even trying to help DiPietro anymore.

But, as has been said, there are no easy matchups from the Conference Semis on. Rangers keep playing like they've been, and we'll be in it to the end.

I have no preference. Every opponent is likely to be harder than the one before. I almost wish we had played a team like Buffalo or Jersey in the first round, just to play one of the favorites in the early round before they've had time to get on a roll. But the first round is over for us so now we move on.

It'll be a tough series no matter who they face. For what it's worth, Ottawa was my pick for the Stanley Cup, so I'd rather not face them, but then again, I'd rather not play Buffalo either. Maybe Tampa and the Isles will both win so the Rangers can play the Lightning in the 2nd round (and have home ice advantage!).

Atlanta wanted to play us in the final days of the regular season, and looked how that turned out.

But personally, I'd go with Buffalo. I haven't seen much of them this year but I feel like this is Ottawa's year and if anyone is going to stop them, it will be in the 3rd or 4th rounds. Their offense just looks too good.

Yeah, but it's better than taking a chance going to Atlanta and possibly losing a game 5 or losing a player to injury. I'll take the rest.

Besides, look at this uberhigh with winning a series. If they won in 6 we'd be playing two days later and they would not be off their high yet. The sweep gives them two days to celebrate, relax, regroup, and then almost five days to get ready for their next opponent

I think either of them is capable of making us look silly if we don't show up. I'm just hoping that either Buffalo or Ottawa get tired and become a little complacent in the second round. I have confidence though and I think we'll match up better than expected

Get ready...

for the refs to b0ne you iwhen you guys play Buffalo next round. I hope for your sake they are just crapping on the Isles because they made the playoffs over Toronto. But yeah, either hope the Isles can come back or for Tampa to end up beating NJ, because the 1 seed = Buffalo + referees.

BTW, you guys look real good. It pains me to say it since I'm an Isles fan but you guys really look like you could be the team to beat right now in the east. Best of luck the rest of the way.
