I don't see how you can draw the conclusion that I think any penalty is a dirty play from what I said. I'm talking about this specific instance - you really don't think jumping on the ice early and levelling someone who obviously has no idea you're going to be there (because he's not expecting six skaters on the ice) at least somewhat dirty? I guess it would be bonafide dirty if Kostitsyn hopped over the boards early on purpose with the intention of drilling Downie, but I dunno, it's still kinda "grey area" to me.
Put it this way. Us Hab fans will see little wrong with that hit, despite the fact that most of us acknowledge the fact that Kostitsyn jumped on the ice too early. Everyone else (Flyer fans especially) will probably call it dirty.

In fact, I'm pretty sure they did when this clip was on the Prospects board a couple of months back.

Wow, great hit. He was on the ice a tad early but nothing too out of the ordinary, great hit though.

We do not see the other Hamilton player getting off, so we assume that he is coming off the bench by listening to the commentatory.

God knows this is the type of open ice hit that a player like Downie loves to do himself.

In a nutshell, no big deal at all.

He also got a penalty on the play if I remember correctly. If it happend in a tight game you'd be bagning your head on the wall...asky *** he did that.
