Buffalo are loathesome, coach is a creep, excepting Avery I see little to hate about the Bluebibs.

Ottawa and New Jersey are going to have a certified hoedown.

Except for the fact that they're the ****ing Rangers, sure, I agree.

First, I have not been rooting for the Flyers as long as many here, therefore I don't have the same hatred towards the Rangers as many others do.

Second, with the season we just had, the Ranger fans have been far 'nicer' to me than fans of other teams.

Third, I've had it with the Sabres, Sabrespeed and their obnoxious fans.

Therefore, I'm throwing my weight behind the Rangers, although the outcome won't really change my existence on this planet.

I don't have any connection to New York or the Rangers, and I don't like them but I have no problem rooting for them in certain situations.

2.5 Million MSG subscribers can't watch the game tonight because their cable provider doesn't carry Versus.

Can you imagine? A Rangers playoff game blacked out for half the city.

MSG and Versus should work something out to telecast the game on MSG or something. I thought MSG carried Versus, but they put it on some special package that not everyone has?

Ouch, there would be riots if they ever blacked out a game here.

Nothing new to "New Yorkers." When Steinbrenner started the "Yes" network, a bunch of cable companies did not carry it, therefore a bunch of Yankee fans (who didn't run out and buy the Dish, which many did) missed nearly an entire season of baseball (he-he)

yeah... this is the reason cable companies HATE channel providers (like ESPN). if you have a channel that everyone wants (obviously not Versus) these guys hold you hostage and will only give you the channel if you pay a ridiculous fee, take on other channels... etc. ESPN does this all the time... I'm not sure people realize that cable providers PAY for the channels that they air... and obviously if you're running a channel you want it on the air so you can get ad revenue... which is why ESPNU started running good NCAA games a couple years ago so that people would start b'ing and moaning about not having it on their plan...

anyway... one of the reasons that Versus isn't on everywhere is this very issue... but Rodeo/NHL isn't enough to induce a riot, thus the companies aren't under a ton of pressure to put the channel on the plan.

which is why Bettman is a moron.

This is definitely getting tougher:

New Jersey vs. Ottawa
Buffalo vs. New York (dislike both of them, but I think Buffalo is better)

Detroit vs. San Jose
Anaheim vs. Vancouver (heart vs head)

Pierre McGuire is "between the glass" for TSN, he just took a stick off the forehead (hard to miss that target), he's got a nice cut and it's all swollen.

Conolly looks exactly like this kid that lives across the street from me. I guess that's a bad reason to hate a guy, but I can't help it.

I hate the kid too BTW.

  • Giacomo leads but...
  • Afleet Alex just ran right by Giacomo like he was standing still.
  • Afleet Alex is opening up with a tremendous burst of energy. He's five lengths in the lead.
  • A compelling outstanding performance by the plucky Afleet Alex. He won by six or seven lengths.

I get the odd feeling this could be a very bland post-season and not because the Flyers didn't make it.
