GDT: oilers vs canucks

first time posting a game so well i plan on enjoying this. i dont like our chances against the canucks tomorrow night, in fact i expect our beloved team to get blown out of rexall place. the canucks will feast on our pathetic pk and our winless streak against them will continue. hey at least it will be an exciting game, 6-2 for the canucks.naslund scores three.

I'll say the Oilers show some fight after a dreary first period and lose 4-2 with the empty netter.

Salo, Morrison (2), Linden (en)
Smyth, Oates (with his first)

I have a feeling the Oil will win this one,it will be just like that game against the Av's. Everyone, including myself, thought they were going to get killed but they ended up with the W on Hockey Night In Canada. I'll take the Oil 5-3(with an empty netter)in an exciting end to end game.

Oil
Smyth,Laraque,Oates,Smith,York

Van
Naslund(2),Ohlund

That's right folks,i'm picking Big George to score goal #1 on the season and i think Mr.Isbister has a score to settle with one Jovocop. Although,it would be nice for George to lay a beating on Jovocop as soon as he hits the ice. Just to send a message to Izzy and the rest of his teammates that he has their backs........but we all know this won't happen.

We're going to get killed.

As usual, when the Oilers play the Canucks they will play lazy, undisciplined, uninspiring hockey and Mizral will come post with his usual "I 'love' the Oilers but they really suck and always will"-type bull.

7-1 Canucks.

to me its seems like the Oiers are due for a win but its Vancouver so i am going with a big fat lost since its Salo turn in net and we all know what Naslund did last year

Just flew in to E-town from Van for Christmas.....finally surrounded by oil fans! Its been too long! That being said, westcoast rhetoric dictates that the Canucks are in some desperate need of second line scoring. Sadly I feel the Canucks will break out of their "winning-by-one-goal" slump against the oil. They own us....'Sucks win 6-2. My fingers are still crossed though...

BTW anyone know who's a go between the pipes?

Oil: 1

If Salo starts

Nux: 3
Oil: 1

If Conks starts

The Oilers just can't score so it doesnt really matter. Naslund and Bertuzzi are Oiler killers. The Oilers have yet to prove they can even be competitive with this Canucks squad. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Sather offered Naslund a few years back when he was with Pittsburg? Maybe we could have traded a superstar in the making like Jason Bonsignore?

Jason Bonsignore was involved in the trade with tampa bay that sent Hamrlik to Edmonton

but Naslund offered to sather like wow, never heard that b4.
yet i don't think without Messier Naslund is the player he is today, nazzy had time to turn around and he did but I think messier just pushed him in the right direction

I think tonights the night that the Oilers win their slump. 3-2 score. Oilers will be in desperation mode, and either goalie will play well in net tonight.
York, Cross, Isbister

Naslund, Sopel

in an interview a lot of the canucks players credited much of their steps in the right direction to Mark Messier. I can't find the link but I'm sure it was on ESPN I read about a year and a half ago. In any case if the Canucks win expect a Mizral thread (lowetide can we close it please ) but if we win then i don't think Mizral pops in

personally i think the oilers play a great game and outplay the Canucks even strength. But the inability to hit the back of the net plus the state of the pk will haunt them as the Canucks win 4-1.

Bow your heads with me for a short prayer to the gods of hockey.

" hockey gods that have forsaken us, please help our pk. we know that we have been bad. REALLY BAD. but we want to change our ways. we promise to be good after the new cba. all we want is to beat dallas in the playoffs. and look after little mikey. amen"

Now then, I have a feeling there is winds of change blowing. If the Oil dont snap out of this slump something has to give.

Oilers win on a Smytty wrap around in the final minute. 3-2

so many things point to a blow out..... like we dont even play in thesame professional league as vancouver anymore..i dunno.. i smell something..

then again this evening ill turn the game on 14 minutes after it starts just to see a closeup of bertuzzi's gorilla mug smilling as horcoff gets out of the penalty box swearing with the score 2-0 van 8 minutes in...
but well see i guess.... thats why they play the games.

I say the Oilers outshoot the Canucks 15-3 in the first period, and come in to the second with a 1-0 lead.

Canucks score 3 goals in te second and a quick one in the third. Oilers score within the last 4 minutes of the game.

Oilers lose 4-2.

I hope I'm wrong.

I'm predicting an Oilers win tonight, wouldn't you know. The Canucks are in a pretty bad slump, and the wins against Nashville, and to a lesser extent, Carolina, probobly should never have happened. Dallas showed us a loss, and I have a feeling it'll be a while longer until the Canucks are motivated enough to go on a winning streak again.

Oilers win 3 - 1.

The Oilers need this one bad. I predict our PK finally has a perfect game and we score a couple on the PP. One by Smyth and one by Isbister. Oates and Cross also score. The Oilers win 4-3.

2-1 oilers. Vancouver goes 0 for 6 on the powerplay.

crawford has to decide if the bag skate starts at 6:30 tomorrow morning or 7:30.

Finally................no FERGY

did Bergy mention anything about different PP or PK tactics MadMan Mact was trying out? (In todays Journal they mention Bergy, Oates and Hemsky running alot of passing drills in front of the net....... I wonder which one of them is considered "the shooter" )
