Anyone listening to Steve Somers on the FAN? This guy is the biggest homer ever, but it's fun as hell listening to him counter the Buffalo fans calling in

The Rangers are in the second round of the playoffs for the first time since 1997, but about 600,000 of Cablevision's 3 million customers will be shut out of two of the games against the Sabres.

Versus, the NHL's cable partner, has the exclusive rights to Game 1 tonight and Game 4 Tuesday. (The network gets two exclusive games in each of the four conference semifinal series.)

The complication is that on Cablevision (and Time Warner), Versus is available only to those who have digital service. The good news is about 80 percent of Cablevision customers have digital - the highest rate in the nation. But that still will leave many fans in the dark

Many Rangers fans will not be able to watch Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Buffalo Sabres tonight because it will be seen only on Versus, which is available in far fewer homes in the New York market than MSG is.

About 3 million local cable households receive Versus compared with 5.5 million who get MSG, according to both networks. The figures exclude each networks’ satellite availability on DirecTV and Dish

The only thing worse than playing such a good team like Buffalo in the playoffs is having to deal with their annoying fans on our board for the next two weeks. Christ what a bunch of preachy, whiney, arrogant little pansies.

I don't want to hear it - I just want to watch my hockey and talk with my fellow Rag supporters.

Enough of that though...

Let's git it!

LET'S GO RANGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Saying this is huge tonight is pointless, we need to win one of these first two. Let's go boys!!!!!!!!!!! Crash the net till the wheels fall off! That doesn't make sense but I don't care. Gotta win!

Beyond that so many of the next games are on VS and NBC, but oh well.

A: Buffalo fans are welcome to join in the discussion, but I am warning them all that any post that events hints of flaming, trolling or an attempt to lure a Ranger fan into a unrinating contest will result in an instant thread ban. Second offenses will result in a forum ban. Please let the mods deal with trolls. Responding to them only makes the problem worse and makes more work for mods.

B: Respectful Buffalo "guests" are expected to be treated with a certain level of respect in return. Ranger fans who want to turn a pertinent discussion into a flame fest will also face the consequences.

This is not a response to you BigE, only a blanket disclaimer.

TV question: I live in Dallas and have DirecTV, but my program guide does not list either hockey game in tonight's Versus lineup. Can someone out there shed some light on this?

Let's go Rangers.

No kidding. It's almost at the point where if the Rangers beat the Sabres, I'd be more happy about the collective suicide the city of Buffalo will commit than the Rangers moving on to the Eastern finals.

I honestly don't want to make predictions or sound confident about the Rangers chances, because it'll be tough for them to win this, but the Sabres fans sure make me want a series win more than I normally would.

Out of curiosity, how often has the Presidents trophy winning team won the cup that year? It seems to me that the "best" team doesn't always even make it to the finals on a regular basis.

I've noticed last few games on versus the program guide not showing anything until game time if at all (just says "sports"), but if you have the actual channel it will be on regardless of what it says, versus doesnt do regional games like NBC.
