Here are a few teams I see interested in his services.

Montreal (replacing Kovalev)
StLouis
San Jose (if he can play the left side, the one man who can get his career back on track is big Joe)
Pittsburgh

I would sign him to a Lindros like contract based on bonuses. 1.5m base, 1.75+ if he hits 30 goals and another 1.5 if he hits 40. So thats a max of 4.75m, which I think is more than fair. This guy needs to get his career back on track, and unfortunately hes going to have to settle for less than work his way back up.

I see the Leafs taking a shot at him. 1 year, low base with bonuses.

Funny enough, I'll bet Bert gets a 3 million + offer from some team. He would be worth it if he played to his abilities, but that hasn't happened lately.

He's not old enough for bonuses. Bonuses are only on entry level contracts or to players over 35.

He will get 4+ million for sure. Bertuzzi is little bit underrated these days.

If he can overtake those injuries etc.. He will put up another solid 70+ point next season. Sure his career has gone down-hill ever since the Moore-incident, but he's still a very good power-forward.

Performance Bonuses shall be allowable under this
Agreement only for:
(i) Players with Entry Level SPCs under
Article 9 of this Agreement;
(ii) Players aged 35 or older as of June
30 prior to the League Year in which the SPC is to
be effective, who have signed a one-year SPC for
that League Year; and
(iii)Players who are "400-plus game

last year of their most recent SPC, spent 100 days or
more on the injured reserve list; and (ii) have signed

If Bertuzzi spent 100 days on the IR in 06-07 and signs a 1 year deal,he is eligible for bonuses

We had Lindros and Allison on such a contracts in the past and neither is 35+?

Weren't those contracts prior to the new CBA? But RangerBoy already pointed out that he can have a single year contract with bonuses.

Allison missed a season due to injury, so as RangerBoy pointed out, he was on the IR for more than 100 days and was eligible for bonuses on a one year contract. And Lindros only played 39 games the year before the lockout, meaning he was on the IR for more than 100 days.

He's done.

I also think the Leafs don't want to jump back on the "aging superstar" wagon IMHO, no matter how cheap.

I'd offer him 3.5m, cuz that's what Samsonov got, and he can't be worse.

I said this in another thread, but I think Bert is the toughest UFA to handicap, maybe ever. He could retire, he could get a minimum deal with incentives if he liked the town enough (Toronto?), or some idiot GM (Bobby Clarke and Mike Keenan are both out of the biz, right?) could get desperate and throw a lot of money at him. It's crazy.

Personally as a Wings fan, I think I would offer him a 3 year deal at $2 mil a year. It gives him a lot of guaranteed money, which he'll like, and if it doesn't work out, they can either send him to the minors or just dump him and not take too big of a hit. And if he happens to get healthy and get back to 30 goal status, then it's a bargain.

Then again, if he walks, I'm not terribly hurt either.

I wouldn't mind the Devils bringing him in for the right contract. He definitely wouldn't have to deal with the same pressure of playing in Toronto.

Parise-Zajac-Bertuzzi or Elias-Parise-Bertuzzi, depending on what happens with Gomez.

He looks like a 2003 version of Eric Lindros, just on the verge of falling into the old powerforward abyss.

If he is smart he will play for a highly skilled team to increase his numbers for a year and then he will have more value. Detroit would be a great place for him if he takes a pay cut.

I dont want them to but I could see the Caps trying to sign him and then trade him off at the deadline for some picks if there not in contention like they've done the last 2 years with 1st Freisen to the Ducks and then Zednik to the Isles

We need a RW so maybe

after thinking about this a little longer... if he took a pay cut to under 1.5 million i'd give him a chance as Calgary's 2nd line RW... i don't like the guy but with Lombardi and Huselius he could do some damage and if he doesn't he could at least open up space for them to produce... but of course this is if the Flames can't land a better free agent
