Don't know anything about the ongoing negotiation process, but, if they threaten the Sens playoff run in any way, those members are going to be some of the most unpopular people in this town.

to be fair, I lasted a month at Scotiabank Place because the pay was terrible. I can't blame them, but I can't imagine anyone would let this impact the Senators playoff run in anyway; one side will cave.

Public support is huge in these type of situations. Threatening to disrupt the beloved Senators playoff run is not the best way to garner the public's support. I'm sure this is nothing more than an idle threat.

How is it that they are unionized in the first place...and...I would think $10 an hour is pretty good to distribute nachos all night...
This had better not interfere with the Sens playoff run... Unless they bring the games to sudbury....lol

It's actually the conversion staff, not the concession staff. According to the article, they're the ones who convert the facility between events like games and concerts, operate the zambonis and do other maintenance work - so, it's an important function for the operation of the arena. I don't doubt something will get done.

sorry missed the conversion staff part, i guess that could warrant a bit more than $10/hr...not very much more however...13 to 14 max..

Exactly, when else are they going to strike? What other time of year can a bunch of underpaid labourers capture the attention of the city? Something tells me that there wouldn't be quite as much attention paid to their plight if they were delaying the hunting and fishing blowout sale or something like that.

EvenTechnicians (conversion staff) at the Metro Center only get paid $12 hour. They get paid more if they have taken an engineering course etc.

I used ot get paid $5.85 as a cleaner there in 2001 so I don't see why they should be complaining.
