EvenTechnicians (conversion staff) at the Metro Center only get paid $12 hour. They get paid more if they have taken an engineering course etc.
I used ot get paid $5.85 as a cleaner there in 2001 so I don't see why they should be complaining.
The cost of living in Nova Scotia is quite a bit less than in Ontario. Up here that $10 an hour they are getting is like $8 an hour down there. So if they're getting $12 down there, they should be getting around $15 up here. Plus the Metro Center would take less work to maintain than Scotiabank Place.
to be fair, I lasted a month at Scotiabank Place because the pay was terrible. I can't blame them, but I can't imagine anyone would let this impact the Senators playoff run in anyway; one side will cave.
I can't believe people who work at an arena have a union.
I work as a nursing aide, and am currently with my second company in this position, and we don't have a union.
