Hockey HOF: How hard can you shoot?

I was just at the Hockey HOF this past weekend- visiting Buffalo. Made the ride up to Toronto to visit the hall.

Went to get my shot power tested and i was very suprised at my results. They unfortunately didnt allow slapshots because too many sticks had been broken of late.

the choices of stick were "Salming"- which is a discontinued line much like the mission whole sticks. very nice feel and whip to them. i went 3 times for a total of 15 shots (all wrist shots). my high was 71 mph, with an average of about 67 mph. most shots were upper 60s. the operator told me that 71 mph was top 5 hardest shots hes ever seen and the hardest that month.

he had seen a player from the ECHL shoot an 83 mph wrister!! and also said that sid the kid averaged around 65 mph.

anyone get their shots tested? post it here...

Got my shot radared (Juggs gun) at a function on ice 10 years ago and tested a high of 87. The hardest shot of the night was 101 by some schmuck.

I can't remember his name but he was about 6' 220 lb 35 years old and a telephone company worker in New Hampshire. I remember him in a vicious stick fight in a pickup game at UMass Boston between Jamaica Plain guys and guys from the North Shore.

Just remembered his name,it was Chris Duggan and to add to the mystique I saw his name come up on the FleetCenter board once as having the hardest shot (105) on the mat at the Fleet that night.

I wasn't at the HHOF...one of my buddies volunteers for the baseball team at the HS. He brought a radar gun to a stick and puck just for fun..

I was using a 85 flex synthesis with a synergy 2 blade, iginla curve. Stick goes to my lower lip (I'm 6'1")

71 is great for wrist shot in shoes -I shot 65 in shoes but in low 70's a few times moving on ice.

Really got a hold of one(on ice), probably hardest slapshot I ever took and didn't hit 90 on the gun....guys shooting 100+ are scary.

i was in shoes....it was a little annoying.

curve and whip both made a difference in the shot power.

I remeber I snuck into a room when I was in 6th grade with fake ice, a net and a shot clocker and found a stick and puck in there. It was right handed and I am a left handed shot. Anyway I got up to 43 mph! Haha thats the last time I was clocked in although I must say when ever I play I usually have one of the harder shots. I would be very interested to know exactly. I better get to the HHOF!
