Goaltending Question

LATE HITS: Tommy Salo's back seized up while he was sitting on the bench so he spent the final two periods in the dressing room.

What would have happened if Conklin had been injured and couldn't return to the game and Tommy wasn't well enough to play in the game. What would happen in a case like this.

As far as I know, another player would be allowed to dress as a goalie. He would be allowed 10 minutes to get ready, and anything more than that would result in a 2 minute penalty for Delay of the Game.

Didn't this happen about 11 or 12 years ago to the Oilers?

Billy Ranford pulled his groin, and so did the backup (pokey reddick I think), and I beleive Ken Low, or whoever substituted sometimes as the Oilers practice goalie, ended up finishing the game.

I was like 13 at the time, so my memory of this isn't the best.

Yup before the game. I'd like to to know if something like that happens during the game.

Apparently, they could dress just about anybody. It used to be that it had to be somebody on the game sheet, but not anymore:

Rule 15
(f) In regular League and Playoff games, if both listed goalkeepers are incapacitated, that Team shall be entitled to dress and play any available goalkeeper who is eligible. No delay shall be permitted in taking his position in the goal, and he shall be permitted a two-minute warm-up. However, the warm-up is not permitted in the event a goalkeeper is substituted for a penalty shot.
