HARAND Christoph - EC KAC (AUT)
HARAND Patrick - EC Red Bull Salzburg (AUT)
KALT Dieter - EC Red Bull Salzburg (AUT)

LUKAS Philipp - EHC LIWEST Linz (AUT)
PEINTNER Markus - EC Pasut VSV (AUT)
PEWAL Marco - EC Red Bull Salzburg (AUT)
SCHULLER David - EV Vienna Capitals (AUT)
SETZINGER Oliver - EV Vienna Capitals (AUT)
TRATTNIG Matthias - EC Red Bull Salzburg (AUT)
WELSER Daniel - Skelleftea AIK (SWE)

After having seen the last 2 friendlies against Slovakia and Latvia, i'm not happy that Kevin Kraxner was cut.
Other than that, this team has an awful defense, except for Andre Lakos there doesn't seem to be a defenseman who knows how to play in his own end. And to add to that woes, the forwards seem to have big troubles scoring goals.

There will be 2 more cuts after the friendly against Russia and Coach Jim Boni is reserving one spot for either Thomas Pöck or Thomas Vanek who might join the team after their team is eliminated from the playoffs.

sad to hear. would have loved to see him play against some of the best players in the world. and he would have been a big help for team austria.

the team looks pretty much the same every year, so this might be some advantage.

how is trattnig doing in salzburg? he was great when playing here in kassel and i wonder if he still is the skilled and fast forward i loved to watch. he is a key player for austria, isn't he?

yes, him and Grabner would have been great additions, since both can put the puck in the net, something this team is dearly missing.

trattnig is the most consistant and and one of the best austrian players in the league. his most outstanding quality is his physical play and strength, i love how he hits people and checkers just bounce off him Trattnig, Oliver Setzinger, Thomas Koch and Dieter Kalt will be the key forwards for Austria.

austria lost by a last-minute goal against russia with 3-4

goals for austria by oliver setzinger (penalty shot), christoph harand and martin ulrich.

gotta give respect for that game. sounds like austria is ready for the WC.

not sure looks like that team always played good against the great teams, but still loses and played bad against teams they should beat...

just like germany does! ok, not this time with that roster, but in general.

fan.at, how do you think are austria's chances to avoid the relegation round? the have to beat belarus. have you seen the roster of belarus so far? the official site has nothing yet.

there is a small hope they pull a surprise and beat belarus, but odds are austria goes to the relegation round.

basically i think this team has the potential to surprise even the US, especially when the goalies have a great day and a few lucky bounces go our way. but after having seen the games vs slovakia and latvia, i wouldn't bet on it. imo, this WC would be a great success if relegation can be avoided.

divis was in goal today when austria was defeated by the USA with 6-2.

is it me or did austria look horrible at times? team USA looked very speedy. and divis...ehm...wasn't his best day i'd say. 5 hole was wide open today.

but an expected loss.

word is that brückler will play the next game and coach boni will then decide who will be his number one.

with the exception of oliver setzinger the entire austrian team was overhelmed today. the US were simply the better team. you can not blame divis for the loss, but he could have maybe saved a few goals.
i'm eager to see what brückler can do against the czech republic.

considering the performances so far and the opponents in the relegation round, i think it is almost certain that team austria will be relegated

i'm especially dissappointed with jim boni's coaching...
