Unfortunately I dont have the stats for 10/7/00 The page is not found according to NHL.com (but every other game that season is listed ) (where the game should be http://www.nhl.com/scores/htmlreport...1/ES020018.HTM raise or lower the 18 at the end of that URL to see the other games that night, Just not the first ever game by the Columbus Blue Jackets)

Bump (and massive thread necromancy) as I've updated this thread with the lineups for the past 2 opening nights. I also went back to the GDT's since the lockout and posted the actual lines. Pretty interesting to look at, and scary who our first line center has been the past couple years.

Edit - can a mod change the title of this thread so it is not confusing for people who might think it contains the opening night roster for this year?

Can someone explain how we didn't make the playoffs 3 years ago with Hartigan, Platt, Malholtra and Brule down the middle?

That lineup right there should have finished dead last. My god that opening night lineup is terrible. That defense is disgusting and those forwards other than Nash Vyborny and Modin were awful.

Skraut, somewhere, there's a site that has the rosters & lineups for every game in CBJ history. I remember because I looked at the first game. It had Flyers History in the name or something, so it was kind of a misnomer, but it had breakdowns & boxscores of games for a number of teams.

Now, onto the topic...Holy God. Some of those rosters are painful.

I was just thinking the other day how far we'd come from 06-07 (the first full season I watched). Taking a look at that Opening Night lineup, who wants to hunt XGMDM down & hit him in the head with a shovel? That lineup is terrible. The Chimmer-Manny-Fritsche line had the most chemistry on the team. And Mark...Mark...Mark Hartigan was our top line center? I liked Hartigan, but wow.

I'm glad we sent Dougie packing.

The interesting thing about that, though...you want to talk about overhaul? I've bolded the players still wearing CBJ jerseys:

There are only 3 players on the team that were in the first CBJ game I saw at the end of 05-06- Nash, Chimmer & Klesla.

Ok, so I can remember most of these guys, at least first names to match the last names listed, but I have no idea about Kucera, and thinking something like Stephon for Maltais................who were they. That was a fiesty bunch that year, they gave you such hope for the not to distant good times to come.

Wow, I can definitely say this year's team will be the best we've ever iced.

And I'm not sure how a few of those past teams didn't net us a #1 draft pick.

Relative to the rest of the league, the best 1-2-3 punch we've had (as in our top scorers) was in 02/03, with Whitney, Cassels and Sanderson. Heck, probably the best 4-5-6 punch, too, but I haven't verified that. Looked at from a distance, that season has always seemed as though it should have gone better.

Here you go, Skraut: http://www.flyershistory.com/cgi-bin....cgi?H20000021

Edit- I'll be darn. Referee for CBJ Game 1, none other than the infamous Greg Kimmerly.

Because we weren't smart enough to tank similar to teams such as Pittsburgh or Washington.

But yeah...with those rosters...why should there have been a need to tank? lol ()

There was some talk of the Calder...so it goes.

The starting lineup in 2006 compared to 2009 is stunning. Howson has completely turned the roster over in less than three years (for all intent and purpose).

It would be interesting to see what type of turnover the other teams in league have had in that same three year period. I bet there are a number that have made similar changes.

Yeah we went with 11 forwards and 7 defense for that game.
