It looks really nice, also don't forget to watch coach's show with Crow.

I had given the "old" site a pretty hard knock on a couple of occasions in this forum, so let me be one of the first to praise the new one. Less flash and the addition of RSS and a "40 Year History" section are quite nice. Well done Kings' staff.

"The Kings are the third of the NHL’s 30 teams to undergo the transformation to a new, league-wide design "

Looks like props are due to the Kings staff for the content, and that the overall design comes from NHL headquarters.

...says Steve Altieri “We are always looking for new and exciting ways to deliver news and information on our team, and our tech savvy fan base wills surely embrace the new LAKings.com
One day, typos in press releases will be a thing of the past... And don't call me Shirley.

Interesting comments by Crawford about Boyle being ready sooner than most expect.

It also sounds as if the second "young player" on defense in the structure that Lombardi talked about is going to be Peter Harrold -- especially with the amount of talk he gets in comparison to any of the other defense prospects.

Good read.

<Still poking around the new site and found this>

(Jack) Johnson made his debut on March 29 vs. Vancouver and skated in five games as well with the Crown shirts.

I've never heard the Kings referred to as Crown Shirts... Sorta like "Blue Shirts"? I think I like it...

It's a heck of a lot better than that clunky Flash piece of **** they used to have but has anyone noticed how similar to the NHL.com website it is?

That's the point. All the team websites are going to be standardized to have that general appearance.

All team websites are going to be cookie cutter websites. All the same.

That is amazing lol.... Ya new site quite a bit better then old one. Same colors though, would think if they had planned on changing jersey colors for next season would not release website right now with old colors, maybe looking to much into it.

Only my opinion, but a template doesn't necessarily have the negative implications that "cookie cutter" does. The new site is well designed, contemporary, easy to navigate - and yeah, all 30 teams will be networked together and similarly designed. I don't know about the other 29, but for us, it'll be an improvement.

The only things that should be the same among each team's site are layout and navigation. All content will obviously be quite different and create a unique experience per site.

Why do they redo their site every other year?

That's lame. You would think teams would want their own identities for their site. Something that carries and showcases the spirit and history of the teams.

It might hurt the teams that do a wonderful job on their own, but this will also raise the bar on those teams who suck at web design. Maybe with a standardized style, some folks might even find it easier to navigate other team's pages too. I'm sure there are more reasons (good and bad) going into explaining the how's and why's of doing this project.

I remember way back in '95 or '96 when the official site had a flash animated Kelly Hrudey making saves.

On the plus side, the navigation is better. And, at least when you click on the photos you can actually see them.
On the down side - KingsTV is boring - just the same game clips I can get from NHL.com. What happened to all those great interview clips with Dave Josephs? Those are the things you couldn't see anywhere else that were great to have. They need to bring that back.

I was coming to post the same thing... If you're gonna link to the Dancing Hamster Zone website, a link to at least one other intelligent (if unofficial) forum would certainly be in order. Is it possible that Hockey'sFuture is in no way affiliated with the NHL, not even in a strategic partnership? And/or that no one has thought of this yet?

A deeper Fan Zone with simple links to affiliate sites, fanmade MySpace pages & good Kings forums would both promote and link up the community. Kings staff - do it up!

Maybe even (gasp) a Blogroll or a list of Kings links (Tickles McGinty, Rich Hammond, LA Times page, LA Daily News page, etc.)? Ok, that's probably too much to ask...

No love at all - why do they link to that site? Why not an intelligent forum, like this forum, as opposed to one that disenegrates into crap?

Both sites have their merits... this site bashing has gotten REALLY old.

I noticed that, as well. For a moment, I considered e-mailing the NHL.com folks to tell them exactly what they missed. That's a pretty glaring mistake.
