12/22 GDT: Blues/Wings

Well, it's the last game before Christmas, and what do we get for an early present from the schedule makers? That's right - the Blues.

We are coming off a flat effort on Saturday night (why do we always have a problem on the second night of a two-nighter?), and Pasha has been too quiet.

No predictions here, but I would love to see us put one more in the Win column before the guys take a well-deserved break for Christmas. So, do we get a treat in the stocking or a lump of coal?

Me personally, I hope Pasha breaks his silence tonight. GO WINGS!!! GO PASHA!!!

Big one tonight. Hopefully Lewis plays Dats like he did before Whitney and Yzerman comes back. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

3-2 Wings-Datsyuk, Yzerman, Zetterberg. Weight(2).

I hope Datsyuk gets some PP time this game. I got sick of seeing Yzerman and Lidstrom out for the entire length of the PP.

If Datsyuk plays as good as we know he can, wings win this 4-2.

And if he doesn't the Wings lose?

Are you people really overrating him THAT much?

It looks like Tkachuk will miss tonights game. Reports are he has an "ankle" infection. But these are two important points for the Wings.

I think it's gonna be a close low scoring game. Osgood and Joseph both have been playing well as of late. I dont see that changing tonight

2-1 in OT

Wings
Lidstrom (pp)
Datsyuk (ot winner)

Blues
Drake

Update on Tkachuk.... he is making the trip to Detroit and will participate in the pre-game skate. If he feels good, he will play.

Cajanek was listed as doubtful but WILL play.

No, but if he doesn't play well it makes it that much harder for the wings to get offense on the blues.
He's one of the keys to our offense. If he's not creating, Hull and some of the others aren't getting chances.

In one word? Yes.

Datsyuk got over five minutes of PP time last game, nearly 21 minutes total, and played the most even strength minutes of any Wings forward (second was Zetterberg). His ice time hasn't been slashed that drastically...

As for tonight, for christmas, I want a fast, entertaining game with scoring chances, hitting, and maybe a fight or two (Danton and Bootland maybe?).

Since this is the NHL, I'll be happy for just a Wings win

Also Dats has a reputation as a Blues killer, so getting him going against them gets you pretty far.

Why, lookee there, another 2-point night for Datsyuk against the Blues. That's what we're talking about.

Definitely not the prettiest game ever played. The Wings probably needed this one more because of the games in hand. They have the 2-1-1 edge in the season series but I think the Blues have probably played better in the four games.

It's great to see Cujo playing as well as he has. It'll be interesting if he keeps this up by the time Dom finally returns...do they dare send him back to Grand Rapids again? I think his trade value might be going up some but he's probably most valuable to the Wings themselves right now with the instability in goal.

Somehow I knew in my heart of hearts that Pavel wouldn't be quiet for long...you can't keep him down.

But just when you think you've seen him score every which way you can, he pulls another trick out of that bottomless bag he's got. I marvel at how he does it - talk about flukey goals...but take em any way you can, baby!

Now it's off for a nice three-day break, and what a better way to go into Christmas? Merry Christmas, guys, and thank you for all the joy you've given us this season so far.

I think i deserve a 90% grade on this prediction. Got the score right, even though it didn't go into OT. And got two of the three scorers correct.

It's Christmas...I'm generous...I'll give you a 95.

Happy Christmas!
