Lewiston/Bernier/Cliche win President's Cup!

Great game by both Cliche and Bernier. Unofficially Bernier with 41 saves in the 2-1 win and Cliche with 2 assists.

This is the first time in the QMJHL's history the President's cup will reside in the US!

Great job boys!

I may have read it wrong, but it said the 3 stars of the game were all from the losing team .

Man, I can't wait until Bernier is ready to make the move up to the NHL in a few years. He's solid in every way. 3 stars

1. Perron (both goals. I believe he will be in this year's draft.)
2. Cliche
3 Duchene (goalie for Val d'Or)

I'm trying to figure how Bernier wasn't one of the stars. I mean, come on, he stopped 41 of 42 shots. 19 of those saves coming in the 3rd period.

Yeah, I agree. I guess they figured that he was going to win the MVP, who knows.

My guess is that since it was the Foreurs last game of the year, they gave the three stars out as a tribute. Especially to Duschene, who's had a tough playoffs with his dad's passing, but still played amazing throughout.

Lewiston has a great team, i saw a lot of their playoff games. Bernier was outstanding, and Perron is just a pleasure to watch.

I've seen the game via Internet and Bernier was incredible. Fast and great positionnaly, especially tonight. You've got a great one in your hands. As far as Cliche, I always like his style of play and I like to compare him to Matthew Lombardi, not as fast but as swift as him and will be a good 2-way down the road.

Great prospects you've got there.

And for somebody who asked, David Perron is in this year's draft and rising by the minute. Nobody saw him going in the 1st round but he's beginning to make some appearances in some lists lately. And now with the Memorial Cup exposure, he'll have a chance of securing a spot in the 1st round. But I know a team choosing 12th and 22nd who might be interested....

The Commissioner of the QMJHL, Gilles Courteau,
presented the President Cup Trophy to
MAINEiacs captain, Marc-André Cliche

The most valuable player award was handed out to
goaltender Jonathan Bernier
by QMJHL Director of hockey operations, Raymond Bolduc.
Bernier lost only once in seventeen starts.

Is it just me, or does Bernier look like Denis Lemieux?

I've gotta say that Cliche has got the "playoff look" down. Very deserving of his surname, I do declare.

Wow. Bernier's got a pretty wicked playoff beard for someone who still 3 months shy of 19-years-old.

Congratulations to Bernier, Cliche, and Cliche's beard!

Great googily moogily, those Maineiacs jerseys are just awful.
With all of the tradition in this sport, why oh why do so many teams have such cartoon-y logos?!

Remember, it's not over. Now, the Memorial Cup tournament starts. Bernier and Cliche will be representing the QMJHL against the best of the OHL (whoever wins between the Sudbury Wolves and Plymouth Whalers) and WHL (Medicine Hat Tigers), as well as the host team (Vancouver Giants).

I'm rooting for Plymouth so McGinnis will play against Bernier and Cliche.
