Let's Bring Forsberg to Broadway

I know he's older. I know he's injury prone. But he's still one of the best playmakers in the game.

Jagr, Shanny, Straka are here two years at most. Those guys need to give everything for the cup now.

Sign Forsberg to a one year Shanny like deal. He'll have to play less minutes on the Rangers. He'll have less pressure on the 2nd line. If he gets injured we have the depth in Hartford chomping at the bit to get a shot.

One year deal. Go for it all while Jagrs still here.

Dream on.

First of all he has, just as Shanny, to decide if he's going to play hockey next season at all.

Second, if he does, it won't be on Manhattan.

Much for the same reasons that if Shanny decides to play, it'll likely be on Manhattan.

Forsberg will play Predators, Avalanche, Flyers or golf.

no, they should work in the homegrown talent or sign a young scorer that could be on the team for a few years. Forsberg is too much of a risk

We'll see if he gets his foot fixed during the summer or not, otherwise he'll retire.

Not knocking the homegrown talent. I see the developing. But none of those guys are stepping up next year to be a 2nd line C

The younger ufa C's will wany more money at more years.

Forsberg lets them improve the NOW and continue the development of the Dubinsky's.

I'd rather spend the $$$ on the PP QB Dman like Souray and sign PF to a one year deal.

Our PP would be insane.

His foot is already fixed, and so is the skate issues.

It's all about what motivation he has left after his 'year of pure hell' as he called it.

Sorry, but I hate this idea. He did nothing for the Preds this season. He's a year older and year further away from his last truly healthy season. Let's go for someone with less question marks who can help this team next year and in the future.

This team really hit it's stride when kids were put in the lineup. I really think adding Forsberg would be a step back.

I also don't think he's going to come as cheap as some might think. If you give him 4M, I'd rather go ahead and spend the extra 2M to get Drury or Gomez or Smyth or even Rafalski.

Every single UFA available will have better reward than Forsberg. His injury history is something we got away from a long time ago.

NO WAY.

I'll Take Drury, Preissing, Gomez, Smyth or Blake before him.

Agree with all the passers above. Avery proved himself to me at the end of this season, but I don't want another guy with a reputation for diving.

I wouldn´t overestimate "reputation". When JJ came to NY he was known as "coach killer" or "dressing room cancer" but I agree with you regarding Forsberg. It would be step back in NYR even if Forsberg is without doubt excelent hockey player.

I think Forsberg and all his injuries would be too much of a distraction on this team.

Pass. I wouldn't sign him for a $1. Not healthy enough. When he's in the lineup he's an amazing player. But every 10-15 games we'll be scrambling to find someone to fill his spot until he comes off the IR. It'd be counterproductive, IMO.

And whos filling in when hes out 43 games?

itll be another year of line juggling and no true top centers.

No thanks.

Go after someone young who can be a versatile player and a real center who doesnt need 14 scientists studying his feet...

OMG YES can we please sign him and some more big names to help us win now.

Thanks for taking me back to the 97-03 years, i missed it.

even if he was healthy, not worth it. I dont want any UFA's that wern't on our team last year. Team should be trading for these players or promoting from within, not signing them...

Ya, because everyone in the league has a prospect who can make a Forsberg-like impact waiting in the wings .....

A Forsberg-Jagr combo should be too hard for anyone to say no to.

You what would be killer? A Lindros-Bure combo. Or Maybe a LIndros-Kovalev combo. Ranger fans have been down this road before.

A Forsberg-Jagr combo is something that I find very easy to say no to.

You guys are very funny, please tell me you wouldn't want Forsberg on this team for $3-4 mil 1 year.

The guy was playing great in his last few games (playing with a different skate) before getting traded to the Preds, the Predators didn't want to risk anything going into the playoffs and rested him as much as they could.

He has fixed his skate problem or so it seems, so if he passes the medical examination thing then I have no problem having him on the Rangers roster.

I don't get why people say no to Forsberg only because of the injuries he suffered in the past when we know that he had a surgery to fix his feet which allegedly was the source of his groin problems, yes he was having problems earlier this season but that most probably is a consequence of his early comeback. His foot wasn't ready and his body wasn't ready either as anyone who watched the games could tell, he was falling on the ice at least 3 times a game and could barely make turns on the ice..........no wonder he wasn't playing well. But we all know that Forsberg is a competitive person who refuses to think he isn't ready to play so this only prolonged his problems.

To make a long story short: Forsberg played better for each game which makes me believe that he'll be at least a ppg player on any NHL team next year, besides he's exactly the type of player that could help our inconfident youngsters find the back of the net consistently and improve their game and it's not like I want him here for 5 years, it's only 1 year and if he's any good we can re-sign him.

LOL OK pass because he's injury prone or too old...butt pass on Forsberg because he's got a rep for diving?

lol

Healthy Forsberg is THE BEST of all the UFA's

I understand where that sentiment comes from....but thats just silly.

If a guy os available and he improves the team you go get him "if" the price is right

Only because of his injuries? It's not a small thing. He's going to be 35 in July. He's not getting any younger or any healthier.
