If you could write our perfect draft day...

including trades and players chosen, how would it go (also, be at least somewhat realistic).

Here's mine:

First: trade the #2 pick along with Picard (I know GKJ, players are rarely part of draft day trades but it's "possible") for the #6 and #15 picks.

Second: Draft Kane/Turris/Cher/Voracek/Gagner with the #6 pick (best available in that order) - This will fill either the #1 center or #1 RW on the team in 2-3 years.

Third: Trade the #15 pick and Phi 6th to move up to the #13 pick (if either Espo or Couture is still available)

Forth: Draft Espo/Couture with the #13 pick

Fifth: Trade the #23 pick and the Van 3rd (86th pick) for an 07 2nd and 08 1st (may have to include an 08 4th or something) - My thinking here is that we will likely be a top 10 pick next year and maybe we could trade 2 first rnd picks next year to move up into the top 5 next year.

Sixth: With the 07 2nd we got above, draft Jeremy Smith/Linden Rowat - Probably the 2 best goalies available in the draft, take one and hope for the best.

After that I'll leave the rest to Homer and his staff. They have a better understanding tof the remaining players and the Flyers future needs.

So basically I'd love to come out fo this years draft with Gagner (prably the #6 pick, Couture, Smith and have another 08 1st after just 2 rnds. It's a long shot to make all this happen but it's possible and if it did, I'd have to rate the draft an A+

No way, if we're trading our 1st, we're trading it for a #1 d-man or a #1 center (as part of a package, most likely).

Patrick Kane falls to 2nd overall: we pick him.

We trade Umberger and NASH 3rd rounder to NASH for Zidlicky.

We pick Eller or Blum at 23rd overall.

We trade Gautheir to MTL for 2nd rounder in 08.

We trade Sanderson to DAL for 3rd rounder in 08.

And Holmgren pulls a Clarke and trades both 6th round picks and 7th round pick for a 3rd in 08.

We add Zidlicky and Kane and 4 other prospects, a 2nd and 2 3rds in 08.

I think what people don't understand with trading picks, is that at the draft, most of the time it is done the same way as the NFL draft is done. It's basically done on a rough points system and that's why players never change hands when you only swap picks.

I have no problem moving from 2 to 6, but why is Picard in there, if they want to move up from 6, 15 is the what they will use, we wont be sending anything back, unless its a throw in like the rights to some 300 year old Euro scrub.

Eller falls to #23 and for the Flyers to take with their 2nd pick.

I would be just as happy with Derek Plante.

I think the Flyers are going to be very busy on draft day and I expect several teams to call them and make some good offers for the 2nd overall choice. Preferably, I'd love to see the Flyers use the 2nd overall pick to acquire someone like Brad Richards. However, I wouldn't at all be surprised to see them move down anywhere between 4 and 7 if it meant picking up an extra couple of picks along the way. If it turns out the extra picks mean a 2nd this year and a 2nd next year, I'm all for it. We still end up with a great prospect between 4 and 7.

As for the Nashville pick, I think that's a pick that will probably be dealt. If we can get our hands on yet another good young defenseman or a budding young power forward, then it's served us well. If not, well, I can live with whoever they select at the 23rd spot. I also wouldn't be opposed if they traded the pick for a first next year.

My favourite thought? "The Chicago Blackhawks select Patrick Kane".

Followed by "The Philadelphia Flyers select J. Voracek".

I haven't given what happens after this much thought.

In the one mock draft, I had a lot of success (although the Flyers were at #1 overall). I was able to get Patrick Kane, Ryan McDonagh, Jens Hellgren, Colin Haas, Josh Unice, Matt Marshall, and Robert Bortuzzo. If we somehow managed to get one of the top 5 forwards AND Ryan McDonagh, we've already had a tremendous draft.

Bortuzzo would make me happy! Another big, strong, smart defenseman in the system isn't a bad thing.

He was our last pick, 181st, as well. I can't believe that McDonagh fell to 29th in that mock.

I'm gonna guess you meant Alex Plante. He's not worth a first round pick, IMO.

Oscar Moller would be interesting. I end up singing the stupid song from the commercial every time I hear his name....

i like moller or sutter at the spot...what are chances either is there ???
if both are there which one will be better?

my concern is sutter's upside equals same as richards so why not take moller?

1) "The Philadelphia Flyers trade the #2 pick for the #6 and #15 picks in the draft"

2) "The Philadelphia Flyers trade the #15 pick, RJ Umberger, Nittymaki, dman prospect for Brad Richards and midround pick or some throw in.

3) with the #6 pick and the #23 pick, get two good players.

I am not going to speculate on who to draft cause I dont know much about the propects other then all the conversation here. From the little knowledge I have, I like Logan Couture.

Brad Richards is going cost more than that. I've already resigned myself to the fact that it's probably going to take a 1st round pick + Giroux, at the least... it's the unfortunate reality of the situation. And you know what? I'd still do it in the blink of an eye.
