English is by far the easist language I've ever heard of. I mean, almost everybody in the world knows at least a bit of it. Guess why it has become the dominating language.

But we getting a little off-topic. I love the intensity of Eager and I really like keeping him for two more years. IMO accepting a pay cut tells us a lot about his character.

While OT, the problem with English is the irregularities and lack of strict rules. There are so many irregular verbs, it is difficult to learn all of the principle parts. However, the weak verbs are easy to learn since all you need to do is add an -ed to the past tense.

Also, letter and dipthong sounds are bizarre. Take 'gh'. Is sounds like a solid 'g' in 'ghost', is silent in 'through', and has an 'f' sound in 'rough'. You can pick up any spanish paper and pronounce it properly even if you don't know what it means, but in English you can't just read it following strict pronunciation laws. Sorry, language fascinates me.

On topic, the Eager signing is good. What do you see his potential being? 15 goals?

As long as you have a decent memory you should be alright. There's strict syntax in the language and the articles can be tricky like people said, but if you pay attention you should do alright. I really enjoyed German when I was taking it.

The most encouraging thing I got from this past season was the glee with which fans of other teams treated our misfortune. It was a good barometer for how hated the Flyers still are.

going the other way, German to English, is a lot easier... which makes sense because in some sense English is a simplified version of German linguistically. English, of course, was also greatly hybridized by Romance languages... but at its heart it's germanic.

my flatmate this year is from Germany and i was with one of his friends in Munich who has an English mother... has lived in Germany/Austria for 30 years he was telling me... still can't do her articles 100% correct.
english nouns derive from german, but our adjectives come from latin. (for the most part) For example, the word "hand" comes almost staight from german for the word hand, but the word "manually" comes from the latin word for hand, "manus", which of of course means it was done with our hands.

english is rather confusing in this sense, as it takes peices of a few other languages (german, latin, greek, norman)

English is bastardized, but syntactically it's alright for germans to make the transfer towards us... it's really tough to go the other direction. Verbs are moving around... dative, genitive, etc. not too much fun to try and keep up with.

Good signing, they think like me, the headquarter. Dream team is not far away. This is the way I see it, when it comes to UFA signings, All 4 of them:

Gagne - FassNslickWizKidXbyLite'ifUWanna - Knuble
Some1WhoCanMaketJeff'NScottLookLikeGeniouses - Carter - Upshall
Sanderson - Richards - Ruzicka
Eager - MeanUglyVetWithSpeedSenseNpenKill2GoWitBenWithAnN' nSam - Kapanen
Afanasenkov - Potulny - Downie

Pitkänen - Kukkonen
Coburn - MissingPieceOfDefensePuzzle
Hatcher - Picard
Jones

Biron

Trade bait: Umberger, Gauthier, Niittymäki,

To be hated
To be fated
To telling only lies

But my dreams
They aren't as empty
As my conscience seems to be

I have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance
That's never free

No one knows what it's like
To feel these feelings
Like I do
And I blame you

No one bites back as hard
On their anger
None of my pain and woe
Can show through

But my dreams
They aren't as empty
As my conscience seems to be

I have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance
That's never free

When my fist clenches, crack it open
Before I use it and lose my cool
When I smile, tell me some bad news
Before I laugh and act like a fool

If I swallow anything evil
Put your finger down my throat
If I shiver, please give me a blanket
Keep me warm, let me wear your coat

No one knows what it's like
To be the bad man
To be the sad man
Behind blue eyes

Good to see Eager will be sticking around.

So who's the next to get re-signed?

Pitkanen is going to take some discussion i would bet... wouldn't shock me if this agent is open to a 2 year deal and the Flyers may want to mull that.

I hope they get Kukkonen done, because I'm mildly concerned he may decide to play in Finland (he's done it in the past). Pitkanen will get done in due time and if nothing else arbitration can happen... not overly concerned.

My only concern if Pitkanen's negotiations drag out is that someone tries to exact retribution for last season's Kesler incident (I know it was Clarkie and not Homer, but still) and offers Joni an offer sheet. I know we have room to match it, but it could somewhat handcuff us in terms of UFA's and our finances down the line. I know it's not a likely scenario, but it's still in the back of my mind.

donty think most teams are vindictive that way, that being said if somone were to make an offer, you really think a team wants to piss off the flyers orginization knowing how vindictive they are? maybe a cheap team you try to handcuff but one that spends up to the max liek the flyers is not th way to go

i'm not overly concerned about it... they'll try to get him signed, if he drags it out... he drags it out. RFA offer sheets should be done more often...

joni gets a 1 yr deal imo, yes they should. hopefully the flyers go after another guy this summer and i think they will, draft choices are not a big deal to this team. wonder who was behind that last year clarke or homer? vanek would look so nice.
