It's always good to have top notch goalie prospect in your system simply because of the reasons you listed: They take the longest to develop and they are the most variable in terms of development. That's why I said if Edmonton wants to move up the 2nd and they offering the number 6 + others, one of the others I'd want would be Devan Dubnyk. It's nice to have that luxury of having a very good goaltending prospect in place..

I was a little surprised that Nodl didn't get a mention. I know the NCAA doesn't get as much coverage as the CHL, but he was arguably the top freshman forward in the country.

what round did we get this guy? he may be one of our biggest steals depending on when we got him.

Getting a top 6 winger with a 2nd round pick is not quite a steal perhaps, but it's an excellent pick. How many forwards drafted in 2nd rounds go on to become top 6 forwards? Not that many I would bet.

well we dont know if he is going to be on the top 6 or not yet. Anyway i was saying that he is not as big a steal as i thought. I thought we had picked him the 6th round or so al la Pavel Datsuk.

Not saying he will be a top 6 forward, but he definitely has that kind of potential. Really good 2nd round pick for sure. Looking back, that last draft could be a huge one for us. Just on potential, Giroux could be a 1st liner, Nodl could be a top 6, and Ratchuk, Bodrov, Matsumoto, and Popov all look like intriguing prospects.
