Dainius Zubrus Anyone

http://www.nhlpa.com/WebStats/Player...hy.asp?ID=6154

What sort of raise is this dude due?

Would be bite at our 4th line?

He's listed as Center AND RW

We NEED some finish from the 3rd 4th lines. Is this possible?

How about as a 2nd Line Center? No way he's gonna want to come here to play on the bottom 2 lines...

Pass. I've never been convinced by Zubrus.

we have one spot open in the top 6 in jags, straka and shanny, nyl, and avery will be resigned. I don't want the rangers to bring in anyone. We dont have enough room for the players that are ready to be brought up, ala dubinksy, dawes, staal, etc.)

IMO, you keep the roster, play dubi on 2nd line center, trade away prucha (as much as i love him right now, I dont think he'll ever become injury prone or a complete player.) Prucha is like how Yorky was. No one wanted to trade him, but when we did he never acted like the player i thought he was. Thats the thing, we as fans overvalue our youngsters and I feel that we should package this kid and monty up for something spectacular while we can.

I've never liked Zubrus, and I don't think he's coming to the Rangers to play on the bottom two lines.

There's another center from Buffalo that I might be interested in...

Awards:
The money that Zubrus is going to get is too much for a fourth liner.

I pass on him. He's been with so many teams for a reason.

Zubrus wants a five year committment

Quote:
Zubrus was seeking a five-year contract worth approximately $17 million, according to sources. The Capitals, meantime, countered with two offers -- the first being a three-year contract worth $10.5 million and the other a four-year deal worth $12 million, according to another source.

$3-$3.4 million

One Matt Cullen contract is enough

I agree 110%.

I actually like Zubrus. I also kind of like Slava Kozlov.

But, the players they would compete with here aren't that bad either. If we take someone in, we push someone out.

To be able to bring in the kids on the brink, I think the players we bring in got to be top notch. If we choose another route, we will loose/waste assets.

Zubris wanting a 5 year contract, should be enough to keep him away from NY.

Zubrus?

Nah, not at 3-4 mill over 5 years to play on the 3rd line.

Like others have said, one Matt Cullen contract is enough for this team.

There's gotta be better 3rd line options out there... anybody know of them?

Hartnell. Hed be upgrade over Hossa and more physical and the better player. And only 25 and had has scored 2 20 goals season, Hossa has yet to do that. Hartnell is also tough and adds another physical player. Alot of teams will go after him. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/teams/players/...=nhl-predators

I watched Zubrus all year in DC. He centered the top line with Ovechkin and was very good offensively. He seemed a bit stifled in Buffalo where he was forced to play strictly defensive hockey.

Drury would still be my top choice for the 2nd line, but Zubrus would make a nice plan B.

I got the feeling that Zubrus really impressed in Buffalo. If they are going to make a choice on Drury/Briere, and let one of them go, don't you think they may try to keep Zubrus? In any case, I'm sure he's going to get some offers. AFAIC, if we're going to add a forward, he HAS to be a first line guy. Zubrus is not that. To add another 3-4 million dollar player, we have to get the value out of him. I don't see Zubrus knocking anyone out of the current top 6. I'd pass.

You are unreal. We need a center, yet you continue to make the case for guys who don't play center. How does creating a logjam at one position help address a weakness at the other?

yea we need a centre, jarkko immonen, why not give him a real shot. We got Immonen or Dubinsky, why not give them a shot to take the 2ed line centre spot. this is what the Devils and good teams do. u dont see the devils signing every ufa, they sign what they need and give their prospects a fair chance to make the team. If we sign Gomez, Drury or whoever, then people will say at 25 why is Immonen aint here, or Dubinsky. Why not build from within. And I mentioned Hartnell cause he is the same age as Hossa and a much better player. If u had to choose Hartnell or Hossa who would u take??? We also can use a bit more size with skill at the wings, other than Shanny we dont have much size.

Straka Nylander Jagr
Hartnell Immonen Shanny
Avery Cullen Callahan
Hollweg Betts Orts

Time goes buy, young players develop. I don't think Dubi is ready to be the 2nd line C next season, but he does have camp to prove us all otherwise. Same with Jarko.

You all know who I want as the 2nd line C next season.

I'd pass on a 5 year deal with Zubrus too. I'm just too obsessed with what went wrong, which to me still comes down to a no scoring depth on the 3rd 4th lines.

This team has tons of Heart. We need some more balanced finish

Drury is all Heart....

He does score some bigtime goals but he is not an Elite talent imo. He will be overpayed by someone. I think Dubi could develop into a Drury like player in time.

For the 2nd line we need a bona fide playmaker.

I seriously doubt Gomez is even a remote possability of signing in NY. Thats just not happening. He's a core Devil and those dudes hate us.

Briere is too small and too risky for the $$ someone will pay him imo

We have to stay the course and develop from within while carefully finding a way to make a run while Jagr and Shanny are still here.
