Any takers for Kolzig??

Olaf Kolzig has proved himself that he is a contender for the Vezina every year. since '98 when he led the Caps to the Cup hes been the heart and soul of the team. But at some point, he must go. With Stana and Ouellet playing as well as they are, why not trade Kolzig to get some depth at the D-man position that we need? Maybe we'd get lucky and challenge for a playoff spot and even if Stana and Ouellet cant step up, how could this team possibly get any worse?

Comments?

Questions?

The Capitals have a very friendly schedule the rest of the regular season. They could well climb back into the playoff race. The idea that
that could work with a rookie goalie playing behind eminger, doig, berry and kwiatkowski in game that really matter is far more remote than with a veteran in the net. Max has had one great game and a nice one, but I am not ready to toss playoff hopes in his lap with any expectations at all.
If you are ready to throw the towel in on the season, then trade kolzig.
If you are hoping for more than that, Kolzig's experience and his leadership are necessary.
As we speak he is the defacto captain of the team. Max can't replace that. He can provide some wins, but I don't expect him to carry the team on the ice or in the locker room.

I'd say Boston is the best bet but they're looking for a rushing d-man who can handle the puck too. not sure if they want to trade any of their d-men.
