Manny Fernandez Trade Thread

So ... its pretty dead here. I thought I would attempt to liven things up. Anyone wanna speculate on potential deals to send Manny somewhere else?

Here's one that's pure speculation ... Mats Sundin for Manny.

Yea, yea & yea ... I know ... Mats is TOO old and fragile, but the salary hit would be only slightly more than Manny's. He'd fill the #1 center role for a season or two. Plus Toronto want a good goalie.

I'm jus sayin ...

can we assume that Manny will be traded? I think we all believe that makes sense, but how much value can he really have?

Yea ... well ... y'all have plenty of prospects, but the real question is who Martin is willing to part with. Noah Welch is awesome, Michael Frolik sounds like a good fit and Anthony Stewart sounds like potential power forward material. Martin has to know that FL isn't going to be competitive for a little while, yet. While Manny might give them a shot at being more competitive, the rest of the pieces aren't there quite yet.

As for established players, I can't really see any of them standing out ... <snark>not unless you're into getting robbed</snark>.

This is tru. Thanks for your opinion.

I'm not a Panther fan I'm an Islander fan, I just read somewhere that JM was leaning towards making a move for Manny and I was just curious as to what Minnesota would be expecting. Thanks for the insight bro.

We really don't need a goalie back. That's the whole reason Manny is getting dealt, is to make room for Harding to come up.

I thought about this and at a quick glance I only really see a market of 4-5 teams that could really use manny and another handful who probably wish they could get rid of their albatross (Thedore,Cloutier for example)to aquire manny

detroit, florida, phoenix all have an open spot for manny for 07-08 and beyond

We need a #1 goalie for next season. If we can't take JSG or Backstrom, I would like to see Morris traded for Manny.

How about just P.J. Axelsson for Fernandez straight up?

How about something like:

Fernandez + Foster for Visnovsky?

I'm not sure how willing LA is to move Visnovsky, but they are taking offers on the main board and someone offered Manny straight up for him. I think that's a little in fantasy land, and we'd have to send a defensemen that way anyway to free up room.

How're you guys on defense? Would they be interested in Mezei and Detroit's 2nd?
Mezei has a bit of an injury bug, but when healthy he's solid and will block shots. Am thinking the higher pick will offset his proneness to injury.

Frolik, Welch, and possibly McArdle are probably not going anywhere. Stewart is available, as well as Booth (saw him mentioned).

Do either of these trades seem fair?

Manny for Boynton and a 3rd rounder
or
Manny and a 4th rounder for Boynton and Wheeler

I just think Boynton would be a great fit for the Wild. He'd be like Willie Mitchell but with better skating and scoring skills. I imagine a Schultz/Boynton pairing could do pretty well. The Wild would also save a million and a half of cap space next season.

Another bonus is Boynton can fight (8 fights last year). It would allow Lamaire to sit Boogaard here and there and he could put in a better scoring option.

I wouldn't mind Boynton at all. If that was the case, I think we'd be the ones adding a pick or a prospect to even out that deal. Boynton has more value than Fernandez at this point IMO.

For the Wild. They are terrible for Phoenix. The second one is really, really bad. I'd consider Morris for Fernandez, but I'd want Minnesota to add something(along the lines of Madsen or Fiala). I'd rather start our season with Tellqvist and LeNeveu than to trade Boynton for Fernandez. I'm sure most Phoenix fans would agree with me, there. As for Blake Wheeler, he's not going anywhere. We are re-building.

By the way, you are wrong. Morris has two years left on his contract, and Toronto has a team option on Sundin.

Blake Wheeler!? Absolutely NOT! Are you kidding? When Blake Wheeler comes to the NHL he will be a Coyote and for a very long time. We like our Minnesotan raised hockey players down here.

No on Boynton as well.

I would like to see Derreck Morris sent to you in exchange for Manny. You don't have to give us anything else. It's a fair and realistic trade.

As a huge gopher fan, I want no part of Blake Wheeler....guy is a complete dog imo.

Now ballard there is a good player from the U of M with the yotes, but yes i realize manny couldn't get him.

I don't see the teams being trade partners.
