Another Free Agent (e3) to the Blues [Better than Handzus]

According to someone who has made the e3 rating famous, the Blues are leading in an attempt to bring Bill Guerin back. If this happens consider me very happy as it means the Tkachuk era in St. Louis is probably officially over. Also given how well Guerin fit in St. Louis, I see no reason why he can't have similar success to what he had last season and God knows we could use a 25-30 goal scorer.

I'd love to have Guerin back, if the price is right. I really expect him to end up with Dallas tho.

He's still counting $2.25 million toward the cap for Dallas. I don't think they're going to ask him back after he largely underachieved for them.

Irish, what is your thought on where do you think Guerin goes?

How long of a deal will he get? Price?

I would totally want Guerin back.

It's basically like loaning him, such as Weight, for our benefit.

It just seems like he's at home here... and comfortable.

I have no issues with Bill Guerin coming back, at the right price, and on the right terms. No long-term (over two years) deal, and no "no-trade clause."

Guerin proved this year that he's still got something left in the tank, and he'll certainly help fill a role, short-term, until Soderberg, Berglund, Kana, Birner and Oshie are ready for NHL duty.

I know people dislike it, but its this rumour right here that we need to point out that what Eklund does best is take a player and make damned certain to mention most (if not all) of the previous teams that player has played for as possible destinations. The equivalent of throwing ideas at a sounding board, to see which ones stick.

Rather than continually posting a thread each time Eklund makes a guess, we should make a dedicated Eklund thread, put all of his "predictions based on insider knowledge" in it and actually go back to see just how many ideas this guy is tossing at a board.

Or better yet make the only rankings of his that are even post worthy (e4)'s or (e5)'s because that usually means someone else is about to announce it and he's gotten wind, but unlike the other source, he is not bound to any journalistic credibility so he'll toss it out there so that he can clame he "broke the story".

Eklund also mentions Philadelphia and Boston as (e2)'s and I'm surprised he didn't mention Dallas or Edmonton also.

To me it all depends on the price as well.

I think that 2 years at 7.5 mil is reasonable. (3.75 per.)

That might be just a tad high for me.

I'd still agree if he wouldn't budge.

I don't see Guerin coming back here. I would love to have him especially with a no trade and preferably a one year deal. I see Tkachuk coming long before Guerin.

Why would you want him to have a no-trade clause?

If we fall out of contention... we can't trade him then.

As for Tkachuk, I do not see him coming back.

I'll still take him at a reasonable amount but I'm afraid he's going to command a pretty hefty price tag.

Yeah, I don't get why you would WANT a no-trade. I could accept one, but that's because I think he'd waive it again to play in the playoffs.

Of course, thats under the assumption we don't make it ourselves.

I don't think the Blues will want to pay him more than $3.3 milion per year (if that). I think he'll get offered more from another team, and take it. I'll be surprised if he's back with The Blues. I don't want to see both Tkachuk and him return. I want The Blues to get younger.

Major Typo. Without!! Without!! No way do I give him a no trade. Sorry about that. I agree with Robb K. I would rather focus on getting younger.

at this point, I'd say it's arguable that Guerin is a better player than 'Zues.......especially after his stint in San Jose. Both of these guys scare me, and I'd prefer neither of them come here:

Guerin will be 37 and is as streaky as they come. He's already proven his ability to lose his scoring touch and can't be expected to increase, or even maintain last year's productivity. Handzus is coming off of major knee surgery, which is always scary....but is more of a defensive, 2-way guy than a scorer. If I had to pick one of these guys, it would be Handzus......but both of them represent temporary stop-gaps until a bonafide scorer can be found. If either of these guys are JD's ''big free agent signing'' this off-season, the Blues will be looking at a repeat of last year....only without the turnip there to ruin the start.

So we'll easily make the playoffs as the WC's 4th seed?

I was thinking more along the lines of... a competitive, hard-working team that will hang in the PO race b/c of coaching....but ultimately fall short because of the lack of talent.
