Great article, puts a different spin on a very bad situation. The Snyders are truley amazing people. I wish the very best for Heatley and hope he gets back soon.

Hartley sounds like an amazing person.

Snyder's family is somethin' else.

Kovalchuk deserves a standing O for the way he's handled everything.

Knew about Kozlov's accident... didn't know how bad he had it for a while.

I recently lost my father, the first person close to me that ever died. This is an AMAZING story. With Kozlov and Hartley's connections to these people and Dan's parents. Just Amazing. If I wasn't at work I would cry.

Great article and for me it takes on a little more because early in our hockey season one of our players died in a car accident. And it is rough on the team for those who knew him well.

I guess ESPN has given us a gift for the holidays, for once... very well written. I've always liked Hartley and could never understand LaCroix's impatience with him. They were fools to let him go (no disrespect to Granato, but they were).

It's in this week's ESPN the Magazine, and it's part of the ESPN 100, capping the top 100 stories of the year.

The crappy part? It's #39 out of 100 in importance. Weak.

It's worth picking up though.

Wow, what an amazing article.

I love the symbolism at the end. His mother had the face of the watch, Hartley with the band, Kovalchuk with the missing links, and Heatley with the understanding of time - interpret it anyway you so choose...

I wish the best to the Snyder family and the Atlanta Thrashers.

39th?

I can't seem to think of really any stories that should even top this one.

A lot of people could learn a lot of things from LuAnn and Graham Snyder.
