I've read he's an UFA this year, and he's a guy I like, and I think he'd look really good on the Bruins. Especially paired with Chara.
What's the opinion of him from you guys who see him all time? Will Atlanta be re-signing him? And if he hits the market, how much would he want? I'd offer him a 2 year, $5 million contract if I was GM.
Sutton doesn't hit, and when he does, he's cheap. He's 6'5" or 6'6", maybe, and he still jumps up to check small guys. Lots of needlessly high elbows.
Sutton doesn't skate well in his own zone. He has terrible initial acceleration, and is a traffic cone near the net.
Once he gets going, he has good wheels and actually has a great shot. He should be used as an offensive defenseman, but ATL won't do that.
He's good with the press, and a good team guy.
He's great at blocking shots. One of the best in the NHL.
So, if you want Hal Gill back with some offensive upsides, by all means get Sutton, but he'd be the last guy I'd pair with Chara. Spend a little more and get Hannan if you want a guy to go with Z.
