Ice...no contest, unless there's no ice in your area of course.

Polar Bear

Seriously though, I love playing both but ice hockey is way more fun, for me at least.

Edit: Damn someone else beat me to it, I shouldn't have wasted time actually answering the original question.

Ice Hockey easily

I would also play Ball Hockey on foot rather then roller hockey

c'mon this is totally opinion based. some of of new yorkers have a tough time getting real ice action around here- so its all we got.

they are different games- one on one ability is important in roller hockey, as it is usually played 4 on 4 and non checking. ice is the faster and more intense game with an emphasis (usually) on passing and team play.

there is no better- it is what you prefer and what you are used to.

they are both great.

ice
Roller is so hard to cut and turn quick and really cripples your game quite a bit.

I'm playing roller right now with my buddies since they've never really had any experience playing ice hockey. If I had my own decision to play one for the rest of my life, it is definitely ice hockey. Nothing like stopping on a dime and to dance around defenders.

I think it's a crime that people in a developed nation don't have access to ice

Ice hockey no contest.

Same here, but ice is better to play on but roller is less expensive.

I enjoy the four on four aspect of roller. It's a bit faster wide open game. However, I find ice to be a bit more forgiving while pivoting etc. Plus, it just gets too darn hot playing roller. I don't have roller gear, other than skates, and played a session last year. I started out in full ice gear and melted. I quickly dropped the should pads but kept the elbow pads and roasted. I then dropped the hockey elbow pads in lieu of roller blade elbow pads and still roasted. In the end, nothing beats walking into an ice rink when it's 90 degrees outside.

It depends what aspects of hockey you like most, they are actually fairly different games.

I feel like a lot of posters in here haven't witnessed high level roller hockey, where cutting and turning, and stopping on a dime are not real issues...

Personally, I like how wide open and end to end the action can get in roller, but I also like the speed of ice... I guess I'll give the slight edge to roller, because I am a bit better at it.

I have played roller and been part of a champion team. Rolle is actually harder then ice, you push off more on your blades.
