First post

Hey guys, this is the first time ive started a thread and waht better way to start then on christmas eve at work

anyways ive also never posted a trade that I would like to see but is not a rumor or has any credibilty save for myself

but what do you guys think about a vinny - smyth trade with throw in on either side

vinny was benched last night and the coach and him are getting into a pissing match through the media, and god knows mctavish wouldnt bench a player so it may be a freesh start for an extremly talented player

comments

regards
jb

Welocme aboard!

As for the trade, I'd be all for packaging Smyth for Lecavilier but I highly doubt Vinny is gonna be traded. Torts and him made peace last year and from some TB fans comments, Torts is right and Vinny has to start working harder. But IF we could get him, sign me up.

A side note; please don't post a Lecavilier trade thread over in the Tampa Bay forum. Those poor people have been through enough the past couple years.

I don't know how peaceful it is between Tortorella and Lecavalier.

I honestly believe the coach would go before vinny gets traded.Yet we can still dream of Lecavlier in Oilers threads.

There was a time when many people around here thought Oates as an Oiler was a pipe dream too.

Anything can happen nowadays. Anyone is tradeable.

Well, Oates wasn't exactly traded here. We got him signed when he was sitting out for about a month into the season where no one really offerred him at least 1.7 million for the season.

Vincent Lecavalier will require an overpay from our side. Anyone is tradeable but depending on the player, it can very well gut the team to acquire him.

to Tampa Bay:

Ryan Smyth
Jason Chimera
Jason Smith
Tommy Salo
Philly's 1st

to Edmonton:

Vinny Lecavalier
John Grahame

I'm not exactly sure about this proposal.

ME NEITHER!

Smyth AND Smith?

1st pick from the Comrie trade too?

Salo is playing bad, but he's just a throw in now? He's not Glenn Healy yet.

What if Vinnie doesn't "work hard enough" here?

Risk city. I'll pass....

I think that Ryan Smyth straight across is lots enough to get Lecavalier, but the Tampa Bay fans seem to grossly overrate him. Like some people have eluded to, the package for Lecavalier shouldn't be much more than the package for Comrie.

Agree wholeheartedly. You would need to practically gut the team to land Lecavalier, and I would be leery of a guy with a poor work ethic. All the tools in the world don't entice me enough to take a flier on a guy who fails to show up every night. Look at our current lineup, and I am sure you can see prime examples of it (minus the offensive potential that Lecavalier brings). I am sure we won't land him, because we'd have to severely overpay and rehash the rebuild process all over again...
