For anyone who thinks the media here is tough on the team, read up on some other cities' newspapers, you'll change your mind.

I'd like our media to be much more intense with it's coverage....anyone wanna hire me to do that??
It's the Edmonton Sun which is a tabloid. They've been on the Oilers case since the resignation of Slats. Robin Brownlee and Terry Jones are *******s. They've never said anything positive and have been the reason that the Oilers have had to trade Arnott, Poti and now Comrie. The Edmonton Sun is the most negative media I've seen. The Sun would criticized the Oilers when they win.

I made a bold and optimistic prediction at work today and I'll repeat it here: first, i claimed that Calgary would lose tonight to Vancouver (they did). In turn, Vancouver will hopefully be tired and provide the Oilers with a much needed win.. Edmonton will go into Sunday on a high and beat Calgary giving them a 2 game winning streak and forcing Calgary into their first losing streak in a while. Edmonton then plays Minnesota who they've had great success against (besides this season..).. Connect the dots from there! It might be hopelessly optimistic but I can see the Oilers going on a nice lil winning streak here!

The Oilers are showing some signs of coming out of it. Brewer, York and Smith have been playing well, and hopefully the Smyth/Staios fightin practice means Ryan is tired of losing.

It is of some concern that MacT plans on playing Salo tonight (according to the Journal Dec.27).

With Tommy will be swimming again tonight, I wouldn't put money on the 76 Habs.

if salo is playing we lose big time 6-0. naslund did not have the best game against the flames last night so i predict he gets three against the oilers.as for optimism dont have much especially against two teams we cannot beat right now, that being the nucks and the flamers. as for playing minnesota the best chance you have to beat them is on the pp and the odds of that happening right now are not very good.

I'll predict 4-1 Vancouver.

Oilers start the game inspired, but succumb to the physical play of the Canucks halfway through the first period.

Ahh, the cynical predictions of tired fans. Chalk me up for a 3-2 victory...for the Oilers. Salo will look shaky, but the team will play better defensively in front of him. Bergeron, Dvorak (who was absolutely flying last game) and Hemsky with the goals for us.

It bothers me a bit that Salo is starting. These Nuck forwards have a solid history of getting under Tommys skin easier/quicker than most clubs.

On the other hand......if they win (heh), it would be huge for Salo.

exactly this team has been 90+points for three years (i think) in a row, time we should set our goals higher than to just make the playoffs, tho its times like these when they can't win anything that the club needs to sort out.

As for Salo starting why not Conks had his turn and like g2k said Salo would be on such a high if he wins, could change his season around.

TING.....off the post!

Keep guessing Tommy. To hell with reacting.

Well at least you didn't immediately go down when they crossed the line.

Wow. 9 shots on goal for the Oilers. How many good chances? I think I count the one by Brewer being the only one. This team just has a knack for getting the most shots with the least quality opportunities.

Salo looks pretty solid thru 2 periods and i'm glad to hear MacT say that we'll all be seeing a steady diet of Tommy in goal the next little while. The only way he might get his game back and carry this team is by playing every night....not every other game. Let's hope they can hold on to the lead and take care of the Flames tomorrow.

Izzy!!!!!!!! I knew my boy would come through.

Keys now will be to keep the pressure on, no giveways up the middle, and of course salo has to continue to pretend these are his pre olympic days.

Quite the turnaround for this team. A period ago, the Oilers could barely get through the neutral zone.

BAM! A bad play by Bertuzzi/Auld, a lucky break, and the Oilers are on the board and have life.

Great play by Isbister on that goal. He did almost all the work.... I wonder if this means a Horcoff/Isbister combination from now on? And what about that shot by Stoll... Top shelf wrister off the post.

I think the real Salo is back.

What a period by the Oilers. Keep it going in the third!

After two:

Oilers are up 3-2.

PK has been solid, even producing a SH goal. Salo has been impressive tonight for the first time in a season and a half. The Oilers are playing a solid defensive game, and with a couple adjustments, could very well come up with a huge win here.

In other news...
Dan Craig has been contacted by Satan.
