I think Carbonneau doesn't want him to stickhandle around guys, because it can lead to turnovers. Carbonneau wants more of a North-South thing going on.
Alot of habs fans are really frustrated with him, and so am I...But seriously, let's give him another chance.
I was recently watching ESPN classic, and it was showing the Boston vs. Montreal playoff series (the most recent one) and I was in awe because Kovy absolutely DOMINATED. He was hustling, he was using the body, he was getting lots of shots on goal and was deking the crap out of people, and i couldnt believe my eyes because we did not see that this past season.
Is it Carbonneau who he isn't fond of playing for? what is wrong with him? we know he is probably one of the most talented players in the league but he was loafting around this past season...But seeing him play like that makes me say that we gotta give him another chance because if he can play like that again for us (and i have a feeling he can) then he will be one of the top scorers in the league if he can stay healthy for the season....
I also think for this upcoming season we should have him play the point on the powerplay.
What do you guys think?
I feel the same way. What a player wen motivated....wait did I say motivated... I DID
witch make me think that he lack motivation. Could he be crumbling under the high pressure in Montreal.
Well if supporting him get the habs in a better place to win and the fans on their feet, count me in
Cheers to kovalev

I dont know whether it's the pressure in Montreal that is hurting him, because he did have something like 65 points in 69 games last season. The only thing i can think of is a) He does not like to play under Carbo's coaching...for whatever reason, maybe he doesn't like his coaching style or him personally or b) He wants offensive help, which he doesn't get besides Koivu, so maybe if Gainey signed a first line player to play with him he'd be more motivated.

I would certainly settle for any amount of points from Kovalev if he actually played 3 games out of 4 instead of 1 in 5...
He's a freakin' veteran: he must realise that he has to set an example for the rookies: and by that i dont mean an example of slacking off most of the time and then blaming his teammates and his team.
Yeah, there were of few of us who were way wrong (including me) on his regular season performance.
His post-season performance perfectly reflects most of this thread though.
I completely disagree, kovy hasn't played his best vs Phili but he was very good vs Boston. Still he hasn't been too bad vs Phili, just missed some chances. At least he is still creating chances. I think you are just trying to justify your posts in this thread.
The team has been suffering from some weird goals and some other key players not showing up. Higgins, A.kost, markov, streit, etc.

Bah... don't try to think into it too much... Some posters are ready to write every possible thing to protect their favorites who are really not living up to the expectations.
And ask all those who blame Kovalev what they think of Higgins or A. Kostitsyn or Komisarek. They will all protect them.
When you get 2 goals and 2 assists playing on the first PP wave every game, and this after 11 games, than you're a big part of why this team is not winning right now.
Some players are complete non-factors since the beginning of the playoffs and keep proving their bashers right.
Gainey will not trade Kovalev away this summer, because he is the key player of this team. However, if this series ends tonight, I would not bet a single dollar on the chances of Higgins remaining with the Canadiens. The guy had a chance when the management kept him at the trade deadline. He did not answer. He did nothing to thank them. He has been invisible when it counts.
Kovalev has his first slump of the season after 90 games, and people want his head. Try to explain this to me.
There have been many reasons why we havent won this series already. BUt the biggest is that we have let in the weirdest goals in the playoffs. I have never in my life seen so many weird goals in one series. This is the reason i believe price had lost his cool. This team should have been able to win every game in this damn series if not for some crazy goals against...
But all is different now, Price has regained his cool and is ready to lead this team past Phili.
And ask all those who blame Kovalev what they think of Higgins or A. Kostitsyn or Komisarek. They will all protect them.
Or if you actually took the time to read the post of people that are disappointed in Kovalev's play, you would actually find that most of them include the disappointing play of Higgins, Kostitsyn, Komisarek, Plekenac, Streit.
But hell, why let facts get your way when trying to prove a pointless point.
