A real humdinger proposal!!

Trade Pitkanen, Hatcher, and 2nd overall to Edmonton for 6th, 15th, 30th, and Mikhnov(w) {Oilers 1st in 2000}

Trade Gauthier to Buffalo for our original 31st overall
Sabres need thumper on defense according to other threads
Trade Afanasenkov, Mikhnov, and 15th overall to Washington for 5th overall
Mikhnov to play with Ovechkin, or Semin, still get good pick in draft, and a throw in with Afanasenkov(2/3 liner)
Sign as free agents: K. Timonen(D), B. Stuart(D), R. Smyth(L), and P. Forsberg(C)

Team looks like this: Gagne, Forsberg, Knuble
Smyth, Carter, Upshall
Umberger, Sanderson, Rucizka
Eager, Richards, Kapanen
Potulny

K. Timonen, Kukkonen
Stuart, Coburn
Picard, Jonsson
Jones (Rathje if returns to health)

Biron, and Niittymaki

Have Forsberg to lead youngsters, and allow Potulny to play major minutes in AHL, so he can fill in if Peter gets hurts. Smyth, to lead by heart and grit to give team a pulse. Timonen to run powerplay, and Stuart to provide some thump with Coburn, and allow younger D time to develop in AHL.

With the draft. lets get some flash and dash:predictions from Hockey News Draft

(5)Alexei Cherepanov- offensive forward
(6) Maxim Mayorov - offensive forward
(23)Mikael Backlund - skilled forward
(30)Maxim Goncharov- two way defenseman
(31)Brendan Smith - offensive defenseman

Lets us load up with solid line of players that have loads of talent, and thats what we need, is for some offensive firepower, we always seem to have lots of grit and sandpaper. Lower draft picks can secure goalie, and grit type players. If we want the Russian players out of Russia, we just have to go get them, just like in the old days, or help them like Malkin.

I don't think that's possible.

And I would much rather chose Karl Alzner instead of that Russian Forward... It's a risk to draft a Russian forward that high.

This is awful.

Teams don't trade draft picks the way you want them to.

There's nothing I can add to this thread that won't be censored. Except for that last sentence. And that one. And...nevermind.

How about we trade The Philadelphia Flyers, except Simon Gagne, Mike Richards, Pitkanen and Parent for the Pittsburg Penguins, except Eric Christensen, Rob Scuderi, Ryan Malone and Gonchar. Then sign Hamrlik and D Markov

Gagne Crosby Armstrong
Staal Malkin Recchi
Roberts Richards Oullet
Ruutu Talbot Laraque

Pitkanen Markov
Whitney Hamrlik
Orpik Eaton
Parent

Fleury

Could you imagine Gagne + Crosby

(yes that is how ridiculous the other proposal was)

As usual, I stopped reading as soon as I saw Pitkanen's name. Judging by all the responses, it seems I made the right decision.

I don't even know what this says. I stopped reading after the bolded statement because usually people who come onto these boards and mention even a consideration to trade pitkanen leave horrible proposals.

wow, that was a good laugh. the only part of that which I think might be possible is signing Timonen.

i think we don't realize that we can't get ever free agent we want. there's 29 other teams that want them and one team they probably would like to go back to more than others. as for you flyersnut, go to a door, put your head in it and slam it 30 times, then come give me a proposal.

I was going to give a somewhat serious response to the OP's post because he used the word "humdinger" in the title... then I saw the length and utter stupidity of what he wrote and decided against it.
