Lampman signs in Finland

Bryce Lampman has signed with TPS in Finland for a 1-year deal. There is an NHL clause included so he can leave in case he gets an NHL deal.

Hah... He can leave if he gets an NHL deal? Those Fins must have laughed when he asked for that clause.

Thanks a bunch for the news. Always appreciated.

Lampman is a group II.Bryce was probably told by the Rangers that they were not going to give him a QO which would have been a NHL contract.Instead of waiting until July or August to see if he could get a NHL contract with another team,Lampman took the deal in Finland with the escape clause

Martin Richter signed w/Pardubice in the Czech Republic a few weeks ago

This is a standard clause in a European contract for North American players.

I think this is great news for TPS (my other favourite hockey team) and for Bryce! I think Bryce will do well in Finland and that perhaps he will be able to hone his game there, too. TPS is, afterall, the team where Kimmo Timonen played for 3 years and the SM-Liiga is where Brian Rafalski really found his game.

It's unlikely, but there could yet be an NHL future for Bryce Lampman.

He was lucky to even play in the NHL. Only reason was because the rangers binged (signing all the old, overrated players), and purged (threw them away and brought in the likes of mike green, josh green, chris mcallister and bryce lampman)

Good for him. At least he's playing and getting paid to do it. Beats what I'm doing. Anyway, you never know, a little experience on the bigger rink may help his game. He wouldn't be the first guy to not make it straight to the bigtime. If a team is actually seeking out the services of guys like Jason Strudwick, there's still hope. That guy's so bad he makes me think about getting my old skates out.

He has talent and is a good skater, he just hasn't got (or hasn't found) that special something that every NHL player needs. I think his game suits the SM-Liiga well.

I was wrong About Lampma, from what I saw & read he seemed like he could have been a top 4, now he would be lucky to be #8 call up on the depth chart.

No, actually, it's a hole that the Wolfpack are going to have to fill. It's a very young team and Lampman provided an older, more steady presence. Plus, in a pinch, it could come up and play a NHL game or two without hurting you.

So be afraid, be very afraid. I see Captain Dale Purinton in the Wolfpack's future!

Too bad Ulf Samuelsson is no longer assistant coach--he could really show Staal how it's done.

I always liked Lampman... I was hoping he'd become our #7 or even make the steady line-up as a third pairing guy. I wish him all the best in Finland.
