Would the Hawks deal for Kubina??

After Staffan Kronwall (D) signed a one way deal with the Leafs today, it leaves them with 7 defenseman, it has been rumoured that Kubina is likely to be dealt. Would Chicago deal for Kubina, who could be there #1 dman? who would you give up for him??

Tallon would have to be committed

If the Hawks who are loaded with young up and coming dmen take Kubina who has three years left on his contract at 5 million per year, Tallon would be committed to a mental institution.

To spend that kind of money on a dman when they need a number 1 center, and for 5 million, you could sign a good one would be beyond belief.

Chicago cannot afford to take on Kubina's salary with Cullimore and Aucoin eating up a lot of cap space.

Like who? The #1s available will all get at least 6-6.5 million.

Chicago can only afford to do Kubina for Aucoin.

No. You signed him to a stupid deal, you live with your mistake. We have our own to get through.

Unless it was Aucoin + a decent asset going back, not a chance.

Kubina the #1 D-man on the Hawks? Are you kidding me? He would be right where Aucoin is: 4th at best. IMO Seabrook, Keith and Barker are all head and shoulders above Kubina.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here.

Seabrook and Keith have shown they are good, young defensemen that have the potential to be top 2 and top 4 d-men, respectively, on cup contenders.

Barker has shown some good promise and I'm expecting big things from him, but he is not head and shoulders above Kubina right now, let alone even ahead of him. You can argue which player gives you more bang for your buck, but that's about it right now.

Kubina might have had an off year when you look at his offensive output in relation to his salary, but I'd take him at 5M over Aucoin at 4M any day of the week. Aucoin's play has been absolutely putrid as a Hawk and the fact that he'll probably wear the C for a third straight year is puke inducing.

That and the only defenseman on our roster that comes close to Kubina would be Seabrook, and I give Kubina the slight edge for being a top pairing guy longer.

Aucoin is worse then Cullimore. Aucoin is easily the most inept defender on this team unless Byfuglien was on a call up last season. Not talking about potential, but pure defensive play in the here and now, nobody was worse then Aucoin except for some very large gaffs by Buffy.

I live in Canada and so I have seen more Leaf games then I want to. I also have center ice and so I have watched a ton of Hawk games. Trust me, Kubina has nothing on Seabrook and Keith (or Barker the way he played the last few weeks of the season). He is big and slow, reminds me of Cullimore with a better shot.

In short no. Like it was said we have our own crap Dman with a bloated contract. Don't need another.

Totally Agree!!

I live within 30 minutes of Toronto, so more times than not it's the Leafs I'm watching. Kubina has absoultely nothing on Seabrook. As a matter of fact I would keep Aucoin and waste only 4 million per season before trading him for Kubina and wasting 5 million per season. Kubina is one of those players who has the ability to make a lunar eclipse look fast.

I would not trade for Kubina.

I know this isn't exactly the right thread to ask this on but I don't follow the Hawks too too much so I was wondering if anybody can tell me what ever happened to Eric Daze?

Daze has basically retired due to his chronic back problems.
