The day that changed this franchise

August 4th 2005, the day Scott Niedermayer signed with the Ducks ever since he's arrived he's brought a winning attitude. Everything just seemed to fall into place after this, we are very lucky to have such a great player, and a great leader and hopefully we will get to see him finish his career here.

Agreed. On that day, our franchise went from "suck" to eventually greatness.

Didn't suck in 03.

I don't know I think everything started to click for Anaheim after the Fedorov trade. They weren't even a playoff team for the first half of last season. They bring up Getzlaf and Perry, add Beauchamin and Marchant and get rid of Feds and now all of a sudden they are a team to be reckon with.

Well, in 03-04, the team really had no identity. It was hard to watch really. No chemistry...just bad. Burkie changed all of that.

The Feds trade is a good selection though. It really was a big motivational thing. Like I will not accept failure.

Two days changed this franchise. The day Murray was hired by Disney, and the day Samueli hired Burke. Everything that happened yesterday followed from those two things.

I would say the day that the Samuelis purchased the Ducks from Disney and the day they hired Brian Burke.

It is true because for the first time since I believe the Ducks first season of play there was neither a Selanne or a Kariya on the Ice for the Ducks. Fedorov turned out to be a panic signing that did not work out for the Ducks. When they first made the trade I believed they got totally worked but Beauchamin came out of no where last year in my opinion. I didn't think he was that good of a player but my mind changed quickly. I still wish the Kings could get him but that's a pipe dream. He is truly becoming a player that any team would take in an instant.

Scott Niedermayer is the best all around player in the league right now.

To a lesser extent, what about the day the Ducks traded for Rob Niedermayer?

If they would have never done that, both brothers would be elsewhere.

Shouldn't there be four special days?

1) When Disney hired Murray. He's the one that went after big Canadians and wanted that kind of identity.
2) When Murray traded for Robbie. (Without Robbie, Scotty doesn't give the Ducks a look.)
3) When the NHL restructured to give the owners some profit to not be in the red so much.
4) When Murray left for Ottawa and Burke was hired in his stead.

I'll go with the Niedermayer signing. I don't think I ever felt more optimistic about the Ducks' future since that day.

I would say the day that Murray demanded Disney be committed to winning as a condition of becoming GM.

Yeah but without Niedermayer I don't see Fedorov being traded because there wouldn't have been enough star power to draw interest or build a good team and without his leadership and experiance that team last year may have packed it in instead of surging towards the playoffs, great leadership can't be underestimated.
