He does not have the wheels to skate with Andy McDonald.
They could try him with Penner and Getzlaf and see how that goes...he really needs a season in Portland though.
That's why I think he could play center. He's kind of a puck possession player, if you have that playmaking brain you can be a fantastic center and not be that fast (see guys like Thornton, Jason Allison in his prime). I am just glad he will get a full year against men next season.
Parros got re-signed too? Good for him. He has the capability to establish himself as a better player rather than simply an enforcer much like Todd Fedoruk. He was doing that for the Kings last year and I was upset when the Kings lost him, let alone put him on waivers (and then even more when he was had for a 2nd round pick). I hope you guys can get his name on the Cup
This reminds me of the "Getzlaf should play wing because he isn't great on draws" BS we heard last year.
You know I will gladly eat that crow right now. Getzy made HUGE strides in the face-offs circle this year and I feel stupid ever suggesting such a thing. But he did suck at them last season and I thought that's what Burke was doing getting another center. Oh well.
LOL, I just noticed that Ryan Carter makes more than Ryan Getzlaf. Carter was undrafted while Getz was the #19 pick. Carter must have a better agent...but Getzlaf will fly by him quickly.
BTW, what's the buzz on Carter? I really know nothing about him.
Carter (as well as most of our college UFAs) get the rookie max, 850,000. This is how you sign UFAs, you pay more than the other guy. That's the downside of not drafting them ahead of time. I think McKee and the likes are at that level too.
