GAME DAY PREVIEW

TONIGHT'S MATCHUP
Time: 7:30 PM ET
Venue: Continental Airlines Arena
Home TV: FOX NY

NY Islanders

(15-15-2-1)

Vs.

New Jersey

(18-6-8-0)

EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey (Ticker) -- Having finally solved Martin Brodeur, the New York Islanders seek a third consecutive win Friday night when they visit the New Jersey Devils.

The Islanders were scoreless in 201 minutes, 44 seconds against Brodeur before busting out with a 5-4 home win over the Devils on December 16. Michael Peca had a goal and an assist and Garth Snow made 29 saves for New York.

After defeating the Devils, the Islanders suffered consecutive road defeats to the New York Rangers and Philadelphia Flyers. But they rebounded with a win at Washington and followed with a home win over the Flyers.

On Wednesday, Arron Asham recorded his first two-goal game of the season and the fourth of his career to lead the Islanders to a 4-2 win over the Flyers.

Now that Marty's had a few days rest, he'll probably start the next 30 games...

1-0 Isles

Jason Blake passes to the slot from off the boards and Scatchard puts in the first goal of the game.

Listening to the game on the radio (work), don't sound like their playing sharp at all.

Brodeur had 2 or 3 nice saves early. Madden was hit in the nose. Paul Martin looked like his wrist was hit with a stick prior to the Isles goal. New York is carrying the play offensively.

Poor Madden, guy can't catch a break, it's like he's drawn to pain and blood.

Doc and Chico were saying it was almost McKay-like likening it with how his inuries would always be reopened shortly after coming back. Best play for the Devils was Gionta diving to try and deflect a shot in front of Snow which I think he actually got his stick on.

Devil Dan, you are in luck tonight - Stanta Claus coming up between periods. Your favorite comedy bit!

At least Fischler Claus gave Bobby Holik some tape to put over his mouth "because he talks to much." That's worth something...

2-0 Isles

Kvasha scores on the Power Play with what looked like a centering pass that Marty misplayed.

Fox Sports missed showing it. Doc and Chico didn't think it was though. They were of the opinion it was a little late, but not dirty.

3-0 Islanders

Czerkawski scores on the PP. All 3 goals have come from plays originating from behind the net tonight. Brodeur beat over the shoulder.

3-1 Isles

Elias to Rafalski from behind the net. Friesen was camped out at the door step.

Anyone know what the Isles lines look like tonight?...and/or who is taking the place of Yashin between Asham and Czerkawski? I ask because nhl.com's shift chart is not working for this game...thanks.

Our D isn't playing so hot and the offense was pretty much MIA for two periods. Looks like they had too much turkey yesterday. Sluggish skating, bad passing, and no sustained pressure. Brodeur needs more support from his teammates.
