He WAS a good goal tender, and has since lost all confidence. He couldn't even steal the starting job in St. Louis. There is no way he is coming back to Ottawa at this time.

he got a bad knee injury which has a lot to do with him "losing the job". And you say "was" like he's retired or something.. you don't just lose your skills when your still of playing age (he's what 30?).

Roberts isn't slow.
May or McCarty aren't really fast, but it's not like they are liabilities out there either. If we signed one of them, he would play on the fourth line anyway so he wouldn't need to be a blazing dynamo. These guys play a physical, hard-to-play-against style and fill their role perfectly. They can still make something happen out there.

How many times was he waived last year? twice? no one wanted him, and I will be very surprise if he gets a starting job anywhere let alone a backup position on any team trying to make the playoffs.

1. If redden is to be traded , you guys should take a serious bid at bertuzzi, i think that he would be great with the first line of spezza and heatley. Redden should be traded for a good second line center or winger.

2. A good vetran back-up to mentor emery, someone like cujo could really teach him a thing or two.

3. Priessing needs to be resigned or shubert should be brought up, no point in replacing him with a Free agent

4.some one to round out the checking line, some names that come to mind are Mike Johnson, Jan Bulis ( he really learned how to play defense under vingault ) or scott walker ( maybe a little expensive but started his carear as a defensman )

5. second line center, someone like handzus that can help alfredson out on the second line

LINE UP

Heatley-Spezza-Beruzzi
*Reddens return*-Handzus-Alfredson
Niel-Fisher-Walker/Johnson/Bulis
Vermette-McCammond-eaves

Hannan/hamrlik-Mezaros
Philips-Volchekov
Subert/Priessing-Corvo

Emery
CuJo

PP:

Heatley-Spezza-Bertuzzi
Corvo-Alfredson

*Reddens Return*-Handzus-Fisher
Volchenkov-priessing
