Shanny: I Only Want to Play for the Rangers

what would be your backup plan?

i wouldnt mind bringing up dawes full time honestly.

nothing in the free agent market really interests me on the wing side. at least not enough to justify a long term contract, or giving up a roster spot a kid could have.

Easy: Scott Hartnell.

He's been buried in Nashville and will really flourish when he's some place else.

for some reason, im just worried hartnell will turn into Hall.
im a little worried about giving him a long term deal, particularly when we saw what our last supposed young power forward did here.

Hartnell is about 694x better than Hall is. In every aspect of the game.

Switch Hossa or Prucha to RW. Straka, Prucha, and Avery on the left. Jagr, Hossa, and Callahan on the right.

I dont think Dawes has earned the 2nd line winger spot. Hartnell is an interesting option.

I would sign Hartnell before Shanny to start with. Sign Drury at center and keep Prucha on the wing. Great second line.

i would put dawes on the 3rd with cullen and cally....

hossa - nylander - jagr
prucha - fa - straka
dawes - cullen - cally
avery - blair - someone

roll 4 lines

if hartnel, and for arguement sake drury too......then

straka - nylander - jagr
prucha - drury - harnel
dawes - cullen - cally
avery - blair - hossa

not bad 4 lines hu?

Hartnell was drafted as a centre which I find odd since he played on the wing in the NHL. http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/draft/nhl2000e.html in a deep 2000 draft with guys like Gaborik, Torres, Klesla, Hainsey, Hossa, Frolov, Ott, Sutherby, Volchenkov, all in the NHL.

Yeah, there really is no comparison between the two. You can already see that Hartnell is so much better offensively even when he's "buried" in Nashville's system. You should go for him if Buffalo doesn't go for him first. Kidding, I just wish they would.

Hartnell is a 25 year old UFA who's going to be coveted by a lot of teams--I haven't really followed his career, but there's a thread on the Trade Rumors board, where most people suggest he'll get between $3.5-$4.0 million per year on a long term contract.

I have no doubt that Sather would sign another free agent to replace Shanahan if he didn't re-sign. And things would not look good if both Nylander and Shanahan didn't return to the Rangers.

Honestly... Prucha. He played excellent when Shanny was out and was the top scorer on the team during that stretch. Has to say something.

Shanahan is not top 6 winger signed or not. He is PP shotgun, PK and 3rd line LW.
If he is out Prucha could fill in except PK. I doubt he is out, though. He'll be signed.

Straka -Nyls-JJ
Avery-UFA-Gallahan
Shanny/Prucha-Betts-Cullen
Hollweg-Dubi-Hossa

Not gonna do it... He'll be back!

... sorry I work overnight, and should be in bed right now.

P.S I don't think Dawes is Ready

Avery -Straka -Prucha would be nice as the #2 IMO

I want Prucha on the second line too darnit, let the kid prove himself. If it doesn't work out for some odd reason then whatever, not much lost. He already has tons of drive, just give him the confidence now and he'll thrive, I assure you.

The Avery-Straka-Prucha line as mentioned would be lethal imo. Three players that truly care about winning. I think Straka would be the perfect center to Prucha

If Shanny retired or signed elsewhere what would I do?
