It's not that I don't like Shanny, I just feel the money going into his salary for 1 year could be better spent on filling a more specific need elsewhere. We can fill a hole at wing alot better than we can fill one at center. We have alot more depth on the wings.

I think you have to wait 90 days before the site lets you do it.

Apparently you love Shanny and my logic won't work here. But Avery at center is a stop gap more than a sure thing. We sign a good 2nd line center and move Cullen to the 3rd line with Callahan and Dawes or Prucha and you have a speedy line capable of finding the net and not being a complete defensive liability.

I love all the rangers. we could pull up a good center like Dooby,Imm, or even R. Hillier.

Stanley Cup contending teams don't have Sean Avery as their second line center. For that matter, I'm not sure that those teams have Sean Avery on their second line at all.

Avery is a one of a kind.
signing a contract with a team- $3.5 million
eqitment- $500
getting a player who argues, pushes buttons, annoys, and plays good hockey- priceless

Here is the thing, anytime you bring up not resigning Shanny people assume you don't like him. I loved what Shanny brought to the team this year in terms of toughness, leadership and production. However, that Buffalo series really showed Shanny's lack of speed. He simply looked 3 steps slower than everyone else on the ice. Like you said I would rather put Shannys money into a top 2 line Center. We have nice depth at the wings, and to be honest I would love to be able to move Prucha back onto the 2nd line and into Shannys slot on the first PP unit.

you people seem to forget he had a concussion. he has to work on getting a little faster, and malik was always the slowest one on the ice. Shanny can help take back whats rightfully ours.

lol not sure we can say the Stanley Cup is "rightfully ours". Since we've only won it twice in the last 67 years. I like your positive attitude though

in 68? years we will have won it 3 times!!!
(we will win or come really colse to winning next year)
unless they struggle in March (again) loosing 7 games isn't what a winning team does. that cannot happen again

Absolutely agreed. Our defense is pretty much set. So is the goal. We have nice depth on wings. It's so nice that we can play 2nd line wingers like Prucha on the 3rd line. Our biggest need is center. Hopefully, we can re-sign Nylander and sign a bonafide 1B or 2A center. As much as I love Shanahan, I feel that that would be the best for our organization's success.

Just because other people don't agree with you, doesn't mean they are wrong. We all have a right to our opinions here and you'll find that the discussion is a lot better if you start from there.

If Ryan Smyth wasn't going to get such ridiculous contract offers from the icelanders, and the rest of the league, I would love to replace Shanny with him. But with the situation the way it is, hopefully Shanny will come back for one more year. Hopefully, he noticed other veterans like Sundin and Chelious, signing 1 year deals, and will not have a problem doing the same.

i know that, but we won alot of games because of him and people just want to get rid of him. it frustrates me, and he wants to stay in new york.

Wow, I haven't thought about taking a regents exam since the 1970s.
