I would love to see them take more U.S. and Russian based kids with later round picks in coming drafts. I know, Transfer Agreement, but it really doesn't matter when you have the money like the Wings do plus kids going the NCAA route get an extra two years to develop.
I concur with this sentiment 100%. What sarcastro accurately envisioned last year, has again been proven in practicality. In the 2006 playoffs it was Fernando Pisani. This year, Travis Moen scored 7+5=12 to help Anaheim's cause. Moen's a guy who managed to achieve the personal record of 10 goals in a season during his junior career with the WHL Kelowna Rockets. And not to mention what kind of players Anaheim's top-two scorers of their playoff run were (Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry). Therefore I'm of the belief that selecting Colton Gillies would be highly recommendable.

Max Pacioretty 4
Colton Gillies 3
Jim O'Brien 3
Nick Ross 1
Patrick White 1
Riley Nash 1
Brendan Smith 1
Jonathon Blum 1
Ian Cole 1
Billy Sweatt 2
T.J. Brennan 3

Sweatt would be a great pick but it really doesn't look like he's going to be around.

I could see them taking Sutter, Brennan, Eller, or Patrick White. Hopefully it will either be a rough-and-tumble-yet-mobile defenseman (right shooter?), or a forward with decent size who can skate and put the puck in the net. Beyond that, it's tough to single one guy out.

http://blog.mlive.com/snapshots/entr...guide%2007.pdf

I just flipped through the Central Scouting report posted on Mlive, and I think the following players would be good picks (in no particular order):

*Denotes players I would consider in round 1
%Denotes players I get a good vibe about for some unexplainable reason

G Mark Owuya*%
W Max Pacioretty*
D Nick Petrecki*
D Alex Plante*
D Nick Ross*% - for some reason CSS's report makes me like this guy a lot
Sutter*
Sweatt*%
C Veilleux*
C Patrick White*%
W Dino Wieser - gotta love a feisty little guy named Dino
W Ben Winnett
C Akim Aliu
D Ian Cole
D Tommy Cross*
D Eric Doyle
C Lars Eller*%
D Josh Kidd
W Brett MacLean*
C Oscar Moller*%

sweatt just seams to me from what i read hes got cleary, devereaux written all over him...
Holland made trades for Calder and Bertuzzi three months ago. For every Cleary or Devereaux (who are at least decent NHLers, and Cleary was one of Detroit's best players in the playoffs), there are tons of big morons who were drafted because of their size, and they saw maybe a season or two of NHL ice, also because of their size.

watching . like the oil pick . decent size , numbers , plus sounded bright in interveiw . then add his dad being ex nhl so you know hes got the basics ingrained .

PLUS , the booing of bettman at start was GREAT , thank you ohio !

This year I'm loving it because some many guys can slide, Alexei Cherepanov is sliding so far.

He seems very pissed though, anyone saw the clip where he shoved the guy's hand haha.

Minny just traded their 1st and 2nd for Anaheim's 1st, I think they might pick Cherepanov or Esposito.

Wings style of play. Went with the smooth skating and puck moving d-man over the stay at home hard hitting d-man.

same here. the TSN guys love the pick but i wished for Petrecki. A big physical defenceman would have been great.
