Who should Habs pick with the 1st overall

Who should the Habs pick with the !st overall?
Let's say the Habs pull off a huge deal with Chicago and snag the 1st overall draft pick. Who would you choose for the Habs?

My pick: Alexei Cherepanov

you should have espo on your poll... i've got this sensation in the back of my mind that if they acquired a pick in the top 5 that's who they have in mind...

my personal pick JVR
who i thik they'd be after... most definitely Espo

at the end of the article, they said that they did a mock draft and that habs would take cherepanov at number 12....maybe we dont need to trade down to get him....

i guess it shows that less teams want to draft russians now if some ''experts'' predict that cherepanov might drop that low

wasnt he considered number one at some point? Atleast top 5 no?

It seems to me that theHabs are findingways to get the russian picks over and signed so if that continues to be the case Cherepanov looks like a good pick at #12 but not at #1. I would be looknig for a big center who could replace Koivu in a couple of seasons as the #1 center, but since it is the first overall pick I like JvR best.

I wouldn't touch Cherepanov....with the money the Russian league is offering star players like him doubt he would come here. Most we can offer is capped.

My pick...I would trade back down to 5th and select Alzner...and acquire an extra second round pick

Well we could trade up to, say, five or six, pick Gagner and reunite him and Sergei Kostitsyn. Kostitsyn-Gagner-Kostitsyn?

But I'd go with Patrick Kane, personally.

I'll say Turris. Could be the centre we're looking for.

Montreal only drafts french canadians and russians. They're stuck in the 60's, man!

You guys really want undersized Pat Kane?

If we did that, two years later, we'll still be complaining about how small we are.

Kane, he's a good fit with kostitsyn, he's the less risky and he's a 1st liner for sure.

But wohever get pick 1st, it may very well end up being the weakest 1st overall of the decade.
