An extra 40 seconds generates double the production on the PP. Granted Michalek played 10 more games more then Fisher.

Fisher averaged 13:08 even strength and got 13 goals and 32 points

Michalek averaged 12:55 even strength and got 15 goals and 39 points

I wish we had a second line player that could carry the 2nd PP unit like Michalek showed he could do as well as be a consistent threat at ES.
Actually it's 41% more PP time over the course of the season. Michalek with Fisher's PP time project to 18 PP points instead of Fisher's 12.

You're right, Michalek did play more games and got 100+ more minutes ES. Which turns into 35 ES pts at Fisher's ES TOI.

9 more points in Fisher's role, at the expense of leadership, physical play, penalty killing, a Selke nomination (almost 2) and a loyal guy who we know fits on this team.

Lots of players are better offensively than Fisher. But we won't have the ice time to get the most production out of them and most wouldn't come close to justifying the loss of Fisher's intangibles.

Michalek had 18 points more then Fisher and they seen virtually the same ice time. Michalek got an extra 40 seconds per game on the PP and played 10 games more. One can say Fisher is given the ice time would have done more but when has he ever showed it, could have easily slumped like he had at the beginning of the season.

Michalek is only 22 years old also so its safe to assume he will improve.

Fisher can't carry an offensive line, Michalek is on the verge of being able too.

I would move Fisher in a package for a player that could carry an offenive line and the 2nd PP unit.

Michalek: 1307 TOI. 30 Pk. 269 PP.
M.Fisher: 1252 TOI. 169 PK. 191 PP.

They didn't get the same ice time. One got 55 more minutes overall, 80 more minutes on the PP and 140 less minutes on the PK (in each case, a much better opportunity to produce offensively).

I'd sign Fisher long term. Because he does everything we ask/need him to do at the highest levels; play physically, kill penalties, win face-offs, work hard, saved his best performance for when we needed it most and yes... produces among the best of those forwards who are actually playing a 2nd line role.

Look at average ice time per game.

That's precisely why I ignored average ice time per game.
10 more games at 0.71 PPG could have been 7 more points for Fisher.

Anyways, Michalek will develop into a much better offensive player. One we don't particularly need with 2 pretty good wingers already taking up his best opportunity to score. Fisher is what we need.

Fisher had a pretty good playoff, but he isn't a god. The Sens have plenty of tough players in lines 2-4 and not enough scoring. At the end of the day it is about dollars and cents. There is a ceiling on how much we should offer him like nearly everyone else and there are players that are worth more to our cause then he is. There are players that have seemingly dragged their teams through the playoffs. There is not a series where he really turned the tide for us. The former deserved godlike status, Fisher has not.
