Are Pavel Valentenko/Emelin friends?

I was thinking

By gainey signing valentenko, does this make it easier for emelin to come over? does he want to follow valentenko over here at the same time? Are they competative with eachother? cause if my buddy was going over to the habs this season i would want to go too..

They must both know they are hab picks. are they friends?

Well i naturally would think that since they have both been drafted by the Habs that they may have had occasions to meet and chat in Russia.

I mean that's quite natural since they will play for the same team in the NHL. Just my opinion.

But one knowing the other is coming here is good: they know for a fact they wont be alone.

I think they were convinced the moment Markov signed that deal i'm pretty sure he is well respected in Russia.

well, one of the think that is cool about Valentenko's signing is that he was under contract with a RSL team, so that might mean Habs bought him out and that they might do the same with Emelin

Nope, Valentenko was not under contract anymore. His team failed to pay him (and the other players) for six months, so his contract was voided. That's what I've heard at least...

I think you're mistaking him for Emelin.

I'm wondering if the Habs are cutting a private compensation deal with Emelin's RSL team, seeing as there is at present no transfer agreement between the NHL and Russian Hockey Federation. I think that this is probably the case. Also, it's probably going to be a week or so before any announcement that Emelin has signed a contract with the Habs. We knew a week or so ago that Valentanko had reached an agreement, but it was only yesterday that it was signed.

Unless people know them I don't see how anyone could answer this. They were at the prelim camp for the WC's together along with Markov but who's to say if they talked at all.

They did, they both played all season in the RSL. Plus they were at the WC camp together.

Valentenko from what I had heard was under contract for 2 more years, but that could easily have been wrong info. But his team did not void his contract for lack of payment. Emelin wasn't paid for 2 months but got his money just days before a hearing against Lada. Grabovski last year didn't get paid for months by Dynamo and his contract was then voided for lack of payment.

the reason i asked is cause they have been in contact with each other and they are both montreal picks. They have tried out for the same team and they both played in the rsl.

the report on emelin said we should expect something in the next 48hrs. well its been that long now...I believe he will be here this season but i just want peace of mind like all of you...we should hear something soon...

Im sure they are and the fact that the Habs re-signed Markov long term may push them to come over

I dunno...why do people assume all Russians are friends and will automatically get along with all other Russians? Same for Czechs, Swedes, Finns, etc. I don't get along with all Canadians, I'm sure no one else here does either. I guess it's different when you're members of a small minority...although I think at this point the Russians are no longer the minority on the Canadiens

they both have things in common so it isn't a reach to think that they have met and may have some sort of relationship. They both play hockey and are trying to make it to the NHL for the Canadiens. If i knew of a guy in edmonton that was drafted by Moscow like me(HYPOTHETICAL), i might give him a call, as we would both not know russian and so on. We may need eachothers help in russia. Someone to talk to? i mean is it such a stretch to think someone might like to know someone before thy make the move?

Im sure there are few who can answer if they are friends or whatever but it would probably help if they were.

I was not intending to ridicule you topic, just making a new dandouillon type name just for fun! I'd love to hear that emelin is coming too.
