The draft isn't really deep enough this year so the best person the Panthers get out of this draft may very well be a young and experienced goalie. So I agree, most likely this is trade bait.

No. The Panthers are not trading the pick to Anaheim.

I don't see them trading this pick either.

I obviously want the Panthers to make the playoffs. I don't want them to sacrifice the future to do it. This franchise needs to build a solid foundation. You do this by keen amateur scouting, shrewd draft picks and prudent prospect development.

I do not want this team to throw away valuable draft picks for a two year solution in net. I'd rather see Belfour/Auld in net this year and a player like Ellerby in the pipeline than see Toskala in net. A late second rounder and a defenseman for a goaltender I can stomach...not our first round pick.

Who I am starting to believe they will take: Logan Coture (C.-OHL.)

Who I would lean towards: Ellerby (D.-WHL.) or Esposito (F.-QMJL.)

* I think Alzner will be gone by our pick*

ok, assuming we keep the pick and don't move up or down, I predict we'll draft Mikael Backlund.

Hey, Bright Light!!! Go back to school and learn to read. I never said they would trade the pick to Anaheim. I said they should use it as trade bait to get a goalie (which is the biggest need of the Panthers). Not to mention, Anaheim doesn't need the pick and they are shopping theirs at 16. With such a weak draft this year, there really isn't much difference between 10 and 16. If the Panthers were 5 or better, I could understand. But since the next 15 picks after the first 5 are considered up in the air anyways, it doesn't make much sense for Anaheim to make that move (especially for Bryz). Based on history, I am fairly sure you probably didn't read this far, but if you did I will explain. Some teams have certain players going at 6 or 7 while others have those same players going late in the first round.
