Draft

What does philly want for it's 2nd pick. What will it take to get the 2nd pick from philly. As I hear that they are shopping it around.

I think that after moving the 23rd overall pick Homer is either going to trade the #2 for multiple 1st rounders or hang on to it.

JVR will be our selection unless Pheonix or LA docotrs it up a bit. Philly always drafts well and is comfortable taking the player, that said I would be really surprised if we traded the pick in a deal that didn't include a pick this year.

What makes you say they take JVR, I hope they select Turris, and I think I'm right.

I think you're right as well, Turris is the guy.

If they trade the pick, it will be in a package for a #1 center in the form of Richards, Lecavalier, Marleau, or Jokinen (which I don't see happening).

Richards and Lecavalier aren't available and I expect the same for Jokinen, as for Marleau I don't think San Jose will trade him before signing Drury as his replacement.

Just because Timmy P says it's so (or Feaster for that matter) doesn't mean that is actually the case. I don't see a trade being made at the draft for a #1 center, but if the #2 pick is dealt I think that will be the return, and nothing Holmgren does would surprise me.

I would offer this from the Canucks...

To VAN: Joni Pitkanen and 1st Round Pick in 07 (PHI)
To PHI: Mattias Ohlund, Brendan Morrison, Cory Schneider and 1st Round Pick in 07 (VAN)

-You guys get a #1 defencemen signed on a cheap contract ($3.5 for two more years) that can play the shutdown role effectively as you guys already have a PP specialist in Timonen.
-You get a centermen who can play in a first line role for a pretty cheap price @ $3.2(Considering the contracts that are going to be give out for Drury, Briere, and Nylander). Your also guranteed that he will play 82 games for you since he's the current NHL iron man
-You get a top 5 goaltending prospect that needs about 1 or 2 years of seasoning in the AHL. Perfect for Schneider as Biron's contract expires in two years.
-You still get to draft in the 1st round also.

So you basically fill in two holes on your lineup to compete this year and still continue to build up your prospect pool with Schneider and the 1st round pick.

this deal isnt as bad as most, but theres no way we deal both no 2 pick and pitkanen.

It's possible since you guys are taking him to arbitration and all.

Taking him to arbitration just ensures he'll be under contract.

We don't want any part of Brendan Morrison.

For Pitkanen and the #2 pick, if the words Vinny and LeCavalier aren't included it's no deal.

Fine, take out Pitkanen.

Why? What's wrong with Morrison? He plays every game, skates well, scores 20+ goals, and puts up 55-70 points a season.

To VAN: 1st Round Pick in 07 (PHI)
To PHI: Brendan Morrison, Cory Schneider, and 1st Round Pick in 07 (VAN)

How about that instead?

That's something I'd be much more inclined to do.

Seriously? I know you guys don't have much use for Schneider but you can easily get more for him than that.
