Dvorak, Cherry's favourite european

Looks like Cherry sees the same potential in Dvo as the Oils, "One day will score 40 for the Oilers"... How sweet it is.

Nothing against Dvo and all, I like him but there's NO way he'll ever score 40 goals in this league. I could see him getting 25, MAYBE 30 if he has a lucky year...but not 40. He just doesn't have enough finish around the net for all his other talents.

Even the goal he scored tonight, that was more to do with Auld flubbing the shot than Dvo beating him.

I really like Dvorak. A lot of people were pissed about the Carter trade, but I actually thought it was pretty decent. The thing about Dvorak is he's not just a good offensive player, but a very decent and underrated defensive player as well. Very good player.

Wish all of Cherry's predictions were right, well atleast he didn't mention something along the lines of: 'Well Dvorak is a good European player, too bad he doesn't play for the leafs " Its just nice to see the guy get some recognition, I was just sick of hearing Millen saying, they sure miss Carter's scoring...blah , blah , blah..

there isnt anything i miss about carter, other than the fact that he seemed to be a very polite person and a good guy all around.... but i dont miss his 15 game dissapearance acts or his terrible defensive play, or his general floating..... nothign against him, hes a dam good hockey player.... but ill take dvoraks 20 goals and all around game over carters 30 goals (even though so far this year dvorak only has 1 goal less than carter)

That's quite a lot of goals to score in one game. Maybe 2, or 3, but 40? C'mon... :p

Carter has 1 more point than Fernando Pisani.

Dvorak has 19 pts so far.

I wonder if Lowe knew Carter was due for an off year? It seems unlikely he would be putting up better numbers here, especially with the way he has been playing in NY.

Tough to say. You can't really judge players in that fashion... different linemates, different icetime, different atmosphere.

Yep. They were called the "Czech-ing Line" or something to that effect I believe.

I remember Cherry complimented Dvorak last year as well. I think Oilers were playing the Stars, just right after the trade. Dvorak was one of the stars, and after he came out, he applauded the fans.

Cherry thought that was great, and thought more players should do that... I guess that's where the appreciation started.

This post is a joke right? If he knows more about hockey than anyone, how did he completely screw up his junior team?

Making mistakes is one thing, completely screwing up a junior team with a plethora of mistakes is another. I would say every NHL GM, assitant GM, NHL coach, assitant coach, AHL GM, 95% of NHL players, and a heck of alot of other people know more about the sport than Don Cherry. If you mean who in broadcasting knows more about hockey than Don Cherry, there's alot of those as well, but I'll say Pierre McGuire specifically.

None of us more about hockey. If we did we would be making millions and wouldn't resort to posting our opinions here. Don Cherry, although controversial, knows more, has seen more, and has done more in hockey than most of us put together. You may love him - you may hate him, but I hardly believe you know hockey better than him.
