Here is what should be the depth chart come training camp (if I ran the team):

1) Kimmo Timonen
2) Joni Pitkanen
3) Derian Hatcher
4) Lasse Kukkonen
5) Bryadon Coburn
6) Alex Picard
7) Randy Jones
8) Jussi Timonen
9) Lars Jonsson
10) Ryan Parent

The reason I put Parent 10th is that I'd like to see him get a full year with the Phantoms, and not be called up unless he is absolutely needed.

Mmm...defensemen are different than forwards. A 3rd pairing defenseman in the NHL will still get 10+ minutes a night, playing against guys who are as good or better than AHL first liners. I'd rather see a kid get 12 minutes against NHL 3rd liners and the opportunity to practice with Kimo Timonen against guys like Gagne than 18-20 against AHL first liners and the opportunity to practice with Lars Jonsson against Stefan Ruzicka. You're too heavy on this "full year in the minors" thing.

Top pairing defensemen get 25-30 minutes a night, not 18-20. In the NHL, he'd also not get any PK time and wouldn't be learning how to be the stud defender of the team, which we'd like him to be in a few years.

Guenin is ahead of Jonnson, timmonen and i say right there with Jones. the kid will play int he nhl on a regular basis at soem point, maybe not here. if gauthier is traded and Nate a has a very good camp would not be surprised if he sticks with the flyers.
